I've heard great, great things about Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA. I know that isn't really in the Los Angeles area, but it's still in CA and I believe they provide students the option to stay in their 'Living Light Inn'....

This is a great question as I will be having a surgical procedure done very soon. I am worried about possible blood thinners.... Tonya Zavasta actually indicated in one of her recent lectures that raw vegans (high raw - 100%) need to be careful o...

Packing avocados and other raw yummies

I'm getting ready to travel to Kentucky and I want to pack a bunch of avocados with me. When I travel to Houston for thanksgiving and spend several days with the carnivores, I do the same thing -- no problem and it keeps me from starving. I've read that other raw vegans do this too, but just this morning a friend of mine told me that it will probably be taken out of my luggage. Was wondering if any of you had any thoughts on this. Should I take my avocados or not?

I'm cheating

I'm traveling through sunny Provence right now and it's not so sunny. It's been cloudy and rainy. But the sunshine is in the food. I had the most amazing grapes here, unlike any I have ever had before. It's a whole new level of grape. They are big, round, and juicy, and besides tasting exceptionally grape-y, they are much more complex in their flavor, more fruity. You know that really juicy flavor you get with a perfect apricot? Well, you get that with perfect grapes. I can't stop eating them. A… Continue

Right now...

I want a snack, but I don't know what. Nothing sweet though. Maybe a celery stick or a carrot or a tomato. Only problem is I go to the farmer's market tomorrow and I'm caught low tonight because I juiced everything this morning. I have some nuts and fruit, but I don't feel like eating them. Ewww...you know what sounds good? Some freshly made salsa, some avocado, and some dehydrated crackers made from raw seeds. Well, I guess I'll just settle for a cup of tea instead...

I live right off Topanga and Mulholland, but I'm writing this note to you from my office in Malibu. It's a beautiful day -- not too hot, not overcast -- just beautiful. Will take a walk around the Point today.

Where do you live now?
