Hi Anna!
First of all, you should do just fine with granny smith juice for now. Keep it up.
I really, really like the herba dolce and stevia in the raw brands. They, unlike some of the NuNaturals products, don't contain maltodextrin, and I find ...
I'm a 26-year-old, high-raw vegan in New York City who loves uncooking and wants to meet more raw foodists.

Gena,
It was great to meet you! I have posted all the photos to facebook and Dhru also posted them, too! :) Definitely I want to see you and talk to you more at the next one in April!!!

Durian is definitely an aquired taste, it's got a bit of an onion flavor to it. So don't plan on any dates right after trying it, unless ofcourse your date indulges in it as well. It's got a spikey shell, this is how it protects itself from predators who cant disperse its seed, so it becomes an ordeal to open it up. I used to get it from Chinatown and cut those babies up myself, Bonobos has it as well if you dont wanna do all the work to extract the good stuff. Let me know if you try it again, I got a kick out of getting my friends to try it for the first time to gauge their reaction.
These days, most of my volunteer time goes to a group whose goal is to educate young ppl about situation in the Mideast, terrorism and ways to fight it. We actually have a volunteer named Gena as well :) I'll send you a link if you wish to read more about it.
I must say that I'm surprised you're still a vegan after reading Carol Alt's book :)

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
Yes, I believe two out of the four pineapples I've had the last several months have been alright with me, after having let them "ripen" for some days. The one that turned out the best was one I stored in a bag of ripening bananas. I did the same t...
