About Me:
I've been vegetarian/vegan for years. I have been pursuing a raw lifestyle for some years now. I do not think I will ever commit myself to being 100% raw. My lifestyle and job would not allow it. I work in humanitarian/development affairs. Husband and I moving to Egypt in December.

hello new friend!
I did yoga throughout my pregnancy and walked at least a couple miles every other day, up until the week of delivery. I prepared myself for delivery like it was a mini-marathon, ate the best I could (not 100% raw, but close to it at the end), read a lot of birth stories, and midwife experiences. My partner and I delivered our baby girl by ourselves at home. I know this isn't the path for everyone but it is entirely possible if it's something you manifest and plan for. I think the hardest part of "being raw" while pregnant is the pressure from others that think you need to gorge yourself to produce a healthy baby. Well, I gained about 25 pounds during pregnancy, had a 7 lb. 7 oz baby, and was back to my pre-baby weight pretty quickly. I recommend a good herbal supplement for iron and calcium. Yellow Dock and Burdock and Kelp are good ones.

hello!

I've just come across your posting's; looking amongst your images, and comments I wonder what path you took, that has taken you towards such work? My sisters currently in Ethiopia working on her PHD; she's a budding anthropologist and I cant help but feel inspired by the work she's doing and others like her. So much so that I am now studying World Development, and will be starting an anthropology degree next year. I am telling you these things because I would love to know how you find your work, and what is involved? I know these are quite vague, and also broad questions, so any response would be appreciated. My sis is out in the field, so I cant ask her! I would just love to hear from you, it's so easy to glamorize the role of an aid worker from all the beautiful images that can be seen, or stories being told, the whole therefor is too abstract, and I suppose you can only truly gather the reality, or gravity of what such a role entails if you do the work. I haven't been there but would love to! I used to enjoy ethiopian food a lot.

Your work is inspiring to me. I also like working alongside people to help build better lives. I have done volunteering in a special social project which works in shanty-town communities in Peru, which I enjoyed but it was also very difficult. You are up against so much. It is hard to see how you can help without dictating. So I am planning on spending more time in the interior of the country, understanding and learning the best way I can be of aid, whether that be with children, agriculture, women, or community. For a while I thought that working in the UN would be ideal for me.

I'm sure you could visit if you'd like. I saw people from Germany, Saudi Arabia, even parts of south east Asia to come see Iran's beauty! It's definitely worth it and I had an amazing time :) So much to see in such little time.

I use natural oils, as well. I've never used ACV. I think I'm going to have to give it a try.
I wish you the best on your hair journey.
BON VOYAGE!!!

More power to ya! I really admire women who are bold enough to rock a shaved head. It seems so liberating to me. We're taught to think that our hair is the be all and end all.
Just recently, I began to embrace the enormous circumference of my head. I couldn't stand not having hair on my head when I first started out with my twists. Back then, I didn't know what I know now. I've learned so much about myself since then. So who knows what the future may hold... maybe a cute fade or a funky fro.
What do you use to maintain it?

All almonds sold in California are treated with a gaz or a chemical, in both cases the almond does not sprout, it is hence dead.

Amen, Loren. So do you feel the same way about blending then? The whole fiber is still there with blending so not improving on nature as much as sort of 'pre-chewing', if you will
