About Me:
I've been loving the raw foods for about a year now after reading The Raw Food Detox Diet and Raw Food:Life Force Energy both by Natalia Rose. I probably eat about 90-100% raw, it varies day to day. I absolutely love eating and living this way and I am soo happy and fortunate to have discovered it! It is simply liberating. I love life and I love raw food :) I am a dietetics/nutrition student, graduating in a year or so and I am so hoping to be able to open the eyes of the more "mainstream" medical and health/body conscious community to the wonders of this raw food lifestyle.
How can the community best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, fitness tips, etc)
I'm always looking for more recipes and new food ideas, in general it would just be great to be able to connect with people who have the same passion for this lifestyle that I do. Any advice/comments/ideas etc. would all be greatly appreciated and I would be more than happy to share any advice or parts of my own experience that may be helpful to anyone!
Relationship Status:

Favorite Raw Food or Recipe?
Watermelon, pineapple, green juices, pumpkin pie in a bowl (from Raw Food Life Force Energy by Natalia Rose)
Interests (outside of Raw Food):
I love art in all forms, I especially like tattoos I enjoy a huge variety of music and would have trouble getting through the day without it. I LOVE the great outdoors and the sun. Hiking, swimming, bike rides, or just going for a walk or laying around in the sun I love it all. Unfortunately I'm in one of the cloudiest locations in the U.S. (upstate New York) so I am so looking forward to relocating somewhere bright and sunny in the near future. I enjoy reading very much and I am also very passionate about yoga and living my life by many of the principles I have picked up practicing it. I want to be as happy as possible everyday and I want it to be contagious Namaste :)
Favorite Books or Authors:
Raw Food Life Force Energy and The Raw Food Detox Diet (Natalia Rose), A New Earth (Eckhart Tolle), Angela's Ashes, The Omnivore's Dilemma, White Oleander and so many more.

Juice Feast Day 1

Today was the first official day of my juice feast! It went pretty well, the first part of the day was no problem because I usually only have juice and fruit until later in the afternoon anyway so not eating wasn't a problem. Around about 4:00 ish or so I started to feel a little tired even after having another round of juice, so I ended up taking a nap for like an hour and a half. Unfortunately today is my only day off of work this week so I won't have that luxury again for a while. After I wok… Continue

Master Cleanse formula during juice feast? yay or nay?

I was reading up on the master cleanse yesterday...where you live on a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water for like 10 days....and was wondering if it would be a bad idea to kind of supplement the juice during my juice feast with this concoction. I figure that I'm home in the morning and I could juice then, but then I'm out and about at school and work all day most days not home til late at night. So I was thinking, juice in the morning, then make a bottle or two or the m… Continue

First Juice Feast! yay :)

I am starting my very first juice feast today and I am super excited!! I am going to start with a goal of three days since I've never done this before...then after that I will see how it's going and hopefully extend it accordingly. Im about to drink some carrot juice because I just got home from Florida and haven't gone grocery shopping yet.... and 2 bags of carrots are about all I've got! I've wanted to do this for a long time and when I was on vacation I decided when I got back (now) is the ti… Continue

Not sure where to go from here.

SOooo I am kind of feeling frustruated lately because I really love eating raw and feeling healthy and vibrant but at the same time I have a past history of being wellll.....kind of a party girl. And sad as it sounds I have come to realize that is what many of the friendships I have were based on for the most part. A few months ago around fall time, although I was still eating really well I was drinking a lot again I think just because I was back in school and surrounded by it and had been feeli… Continue

Being a polite raw guest...?

So I'm about to head to Florida in a couple weeks for spring break and will be staying with my boyfriend's family. I haven't even thought about it until just now, but after a year of raw this is the first time I'm really staying anywhere for any length of time with someone who is unfamiliar with my "ways." Beyond that, I happen to know that his family are big fans of the meat and potatoes kinda thing. It's not so much that I'm afraid anyone will think I'm a strange or anything for eating the way… Continue

Wow Emily, I think I would get so frustrated!! Good think you are sticking with it though. What are you planning on doing with your degree? I want to do personal consultation, kind of like Natalia Rose, who it looks like we both love! For one of my metabolism classes we had 3 fake "clients" with different issues that we had to make menu plans/ nutritional goals for, and it was soooo much fun.

Best wishes as you pursue your training. Looking back, in nursing school I was required to take ONE 3hr nutrition class and it was 100% FDA approved - lol. Oh to be able to go back and tell them what I KNOW know. You go for it. I will pray your voice will be heard and will resonate (for good) through many generations to come :o)

Hey Emily! Nice to meet another nutrition student! I was lucky enough to have a really holistic, natural University close to me, check out www.bastyr.edu. They are SO supportive of raw foods, there are raw food speakers and events there all the time. In fact, Angela Stokes will be speaking there the middle of next month. I moved into a new house and this school just happened to be about 5 minutes away- can we say DESTINY?!?! LOL. What about you, how do your professors feel about it?

hi stacey, I was doing Hatha Yoga, that involves asanas, prayanama, bandha and mudras. Apart from yoga we were taught Anatomy, Psychology, Philosophy etc., so that the students of this course could teach yoga and take it as a profession later.
