Emily's Raw Breakthrough

Profile Information

About Me:
I went raw on 9/10/07 after a woman spoke to the fibromyalgia support group I started and told us that raw foods started to cure her in a week. Five days later, I felt better than I had since before I got sick (in 2001) and I haven't looked back since!

Update- I just started my raw foods coaching adventure, so if you want any help in transitioning to a more raw diet, check out my websites: www.rawbreakthrough.com and www.noblelifeelements.com/chicago.
How can the community best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, fitness tips, etc)

The Difference Between Conservatives and Liberals

This isn't so much a blog post as me just posting a very interesting and thought-provoking article from my Northwestern alumni newsletter that I feel is very relevant considering we are only a few weeks away from the biggest election many of us have ever seen:

Elements for Life

I was on a conference call with David Wolfe and Kevin Gianni the other night and there is a brand new 100% raw organic superfoods network marketing company!!! The company is called Elements for Life and I really think this could be an awesome way of spreading the word about raw food across the planet.

I know network marketing is usually cheesy, but this company is doing it right. Pure, beautiful products like cacao, goji berries, marine phytoplankton, Sacred Chocolate, cordecyps, and colloidal… Continue

My Before and After Pics

So in the interest of being totally transparent, here are my lovely before and after pics!

Here is me in college, hating my body as compared to my skinny sorority sister, Lisa:)

God Bless Humana!

Of course, I'm being facetious with that title, but there is actually a kernel of truth there. I just opened my monthly insurance statement and read the most beautiful sentence ever..."You have zero medical claims and zero prescription claims for this quarter." Less than a year ago, if I had received such a statement, I shudder to think how many claims would have been included. Due to ulcerative colitis, fibromyalgia, sinusitis, allergies, etc., I was on about 25 pills a day, plus a wicked liqui… Continue

Deal! It's always easier when you are doing it with someone, and able to share experiences.

I've done a one day water fast only. To be honest, I had considered the same thing! I decided to wait until I find a solid source of spring water nearby, though. If I am going to be cleansing with water, I do not want it to be the poorly-filtered Brita water I am currently drinking. :)

I found my first day easy, with 'discomfort' coming on the second day and intensifying on the third day. I've read that after the third day, your digestive system goes to sleep which may be why today has been such a breeze. I only drank two juices as opposed to my previous three per day, simply because I intuited my needs.

Emily, how exciting! How is your juice fast going? I just finished my fourth day, and it's been amazing.

Hey Emily! Hope you are doing well. I wanted to let you know that I just gave Lisa, a friend of mine, your number. She has Fibro and is interested in hearing about how raw foods helped you.

Hey Emily! Your site: http://www.rawbreakthrough.com/ is awesome. That is so cool. If you ever are in need of products for your seminars would you keep our new site in mind? http://www.ShopRawFoods.com? Can you send me a message about how Elements for life is working for you? I'm thinking of signing up! I'd also like to ask you questions about your lectures. Take care and keep in touch! - Justin

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
