My two cents on the "I'm so clean I react to anything toxic" bit- our body is meant to be resilient, not hyper-reactive, LOL! A friend of mine from here was the ultimate example of that. She practically had to eat mono.

She isn't all raw anymore (still high) but now she can eat so many more things than she used to and she even tolerated a rare glass of wine! A huge deal for her:)

It's good to get lots of info- it will help you figure out what you resonate with and what your choices are.
As you've probably started to figure out, there are many raw factions who all claim that there is one right way (theirs, of course;) In my experience, different things work for different people.
The thing that helped me was finding those who seemed to have similar issues and body type as me and listening to what was working for them and then trying it out myself:)

Now, because I'm healing from long term adrenal fatigue, I probably have somewhat different and slightly higher protein requirements that many.

I get my protein from eggs, goat cheese and raw goat's milk protein powder, fish and small amounts of meat. Not everyone needs meat or even fish, but I actually started having dreams that were telling me to eat meat, after 16 years without it!

I currently follow a moderate/high raw (like 50-70%) low sugar/starch paleo style diet and this is working great for me. My protein is in the 45-60 gm/day range. I'm finally losing flab without losing muscle like I did on raw.
The book I follow is called "Primal Body, Primal Mind" and I learned a lot from it (and I have over 15 years of nutritional study and healthy diet behind me, so that's saying a lot, LOL!)

If you are interested in reading some great articles on the raw diet and people's experiences with it (what worked, what didn't), here are two sites:

http://www.beyondveg.com/

I'm not trying to indoctrinate anyone- I just wish I had known a lot of this stuff before I spent so much time going in directions that, ultimately, did not support my health.
My advice is to keep an open mind, do your research, listen to your body and don't get sucked into dogma:) Good luck on your health journey!!

Ok- what I mean is that (ironcally) you have to eat protein in order to to pump out the HCl to digest it, and animal proteins seem to stimulate this more than veg. proteins.
I was saying that the typically low protein raw veg diet can do a real number on digestive ability so that you lose the ability to digest many foods. The high fruit diets seem to be the worst.

I have several friends who had very impaired digestion after raw (esp the ones who went through a fruit phase) and now they have good digestion and are no longer reactive to foods after changing the proteins they eat and not eating 100% raw (although they still eat high raw.)

I hope that is a more helpful answer:) I didn't just state it in my post because these observations tend to prove really unpopular on this forum and people will really jump down your throat, LOL! And I don't like conflict!

Oh- it wasn't me who posted that one (I think it was Ian?). But to answer your question, I'd say (for me at least), the raw ice cream is def. more evil. I say this because, for my weak digestive fire, cold things don't help, esp when they happen to be dairy AND sweet. That's a triple threat to spleen function right there, LOL!
