So I finally was able to watch your film, All Jacked Up, and wow, what a powerful message! Honestly,

I believe that I got even more out of it than just the message about what we're putting into our bodies. I was reminded of when I was a teenager, and something didn't seem quite right for me, the question I always asked myself and adults around me was, "is this really all there is?" The every day, go to work, not quite make enough money, not feel great, wonder when some big illness is going to pop "out of nowhere" and get me or someone I love, and never quite feeling in control of my life.

I believe your film will help to show the next generations that there IS more out there, and don't conform just because the generations before you have.

My son is with his dad in Washington state right now, but as soon as he comes home I'm hoping to sit down and share this with him. Thank you again. I hope many more will be able to receive this message.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to CA for the film festival as I am currently living in NJ. Keep me posted if there will be a screening in NYC any time soon. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to wait to see it on DVD :-)

I must say even before seeing the film in it's entirety, thank you so much for making it. I really think it's going to make a difference with the next generation. And, on a personal note, I think it will make a difference with my own son. While he, luckily, still respects what I have to say, I think it'll makes more of an impact coming from kids closer to his age.

"ALL JACKED UP" Named an Official Selection at the
2008 Raw Lifestyle Film Festival

Eye opening documentary for teenagers exposes
corporate greed and excess regarding food

Laguna Beach, CA – February 28, 2008 – Faerie Films, in association with Junkyard Dog Films, is pleased to announce that their documentary, “ALL JACKED UP” has been named an Official Selection at the 2008 Raw Lifestyle Film Festival. The movie is scheduled to screen at 12:30 pm PST on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Grand Theatre on the grounds of Los Angeles Trade Technical College.

"ALL JACKED UP" is an angst-driven portrait of four teenagers who discover the truth about their obsessive, addictive, and emotion-driven eating habits. All this brought on by their parents, schools, and an abusive food system profiting from them with no regard for their well-being. “We are thrilled to have been selected to screen All Jacked Up at the Raw Lifestyle Film Festival,” exclaimed Jennifer Mattox, director and co-writer of the film. “The movie rallies the teen generation to boycott and stick it to ‘big food’ and not to rely on the government to fix anything.”

A recent study published by the American Psychological Association reports that 19 percent of girls and 16 percent of teenage boys met the criteria for anxiety, stress or depression. A similar study at the University of Minnesota found that 44 percent of girls and 20 percent of boys were either overweight, engaged in binge eating or had used extreme weight-control measures. Through the movie, the filmmakers make a direct connection between a teenager’s eating habits and their emotional behavior.

“ALL JACKED UP is more than a movie, and we expect that teenagers will be enraged by what they see in this film and who’s behind the system that’s out to hurt them and take their money,” says the film’s producer and co-writer, Douglas Clemons. “Every teenager needs to see this movie and take necessary action,” states Mike Adams, author and nutritionist. “When they do, the nation’s food system will be knocked back on their heals. This movie will have a devastating impact on big food companies, and they way we feed our kids,” Adams continued.

According to the filmmakers, production of "ALL JACKED UP" was quite a green effort. All craft services and food for the cast and crew was vegan, vegetarian and organic (supplied by Whole Foods and Organic To Go), the production vehicle was a Toyota Prius hybrid, and fuel burning power generators were not used.

Faerie Films is actively seeking theatrical distribution for "ALL JACKED UP" as well as sales representation. The company plans to exhibit "ALL JACKED UP" at film festivals through the summer of 2008, taking the film and its timely and provocative message to as many markets as possible.

About the Raw Lifestyle Film Festival –
Now in its second year, the Raw Lifestyle Film Festival is a celebration of filmmakers who dedicate their talents, income and energy to examining what sustainability really means: from how we birth our young, to how we raise children, the construction and design of homes in which we live, to how we deal with illness and how all this is reflected in how we feed ourselves, to how we treat others in the animal kingdom all in the name of "the perfect steak" the "fashionable coat or accessories" or for entertainment, and its impact on all spheres of life on Earth.

I bought a cheap Oster 16 speed blender (like $25) about a year ago and it does magic. Sort of small, but blends everything I need and leaves my green smoothies smoooooth. Even blends whole nuts =] Oh yeah!
