I'm not 100% raw, more like 97%, so it's not whether or not it's raw, but I think you're right about the processing - I mean, it's not like honey, which just comes out of the comb.
To be honest I have never seen the process to create Raw Agave... I have seen many creating "Agave" that claim to be raw, but the process is far from raw. If you were eating 100% raw and the Agave was creating a problem, then it just might not be ...
Hmm - I think I'm going to switch back to raw honey, and only use agave for the occasional raw dessert, not everyday in my tea. Thanks for your thoughts!
What brand are you using? Some are processed different than other and some add things to there agave like corn syrup lol.
I found these audios and article really interesting in regard to agave

I always have agave syrup in the house. I don't think I've ever eaten it though. I wish I had some experience to help you. My kid loves agave and sometime around starting agave starting having poor digestion. I am not saying agave caused it, but I...
I know that raw agave is supposed to be good for digestion, but I'm wondering if anyone has noticed negative digestive effects from it. I've had all kinds of digestive problems over the past week or so, and the main thing that's been different abo...
Raw since the beginning of April 2008 -- took me only a few weeks to transition to 100% raw and I'm loving it! Not totally vegan yet though, because I've eaten a bit of sashimi and raw oysters. That feels right for now, but plan to go totally vegan w/in 6 months. Have noticed amazing changes in my levels of anxiety - before I went raw I had lots of anxiety and often had panic attacks - that's totally disappeared since I went raw; now I'm so zenned out it's like a natural prozac!

This is absoluteyl a risk following 80/10/10. The reason is that when you eat high fat foods, just like when you eat cooked foods, you are consuming very high density, high calorie, low volume foods. The reason is that they are low in water and fibre, and because fat contains 9 calories to the gram, where as carbs and protein only contain 4. This means you can eat alot of high fat foods and get full of what looks like less food.
When you eat 80/10/10 you are eating a low density, lower calorie, high volume source of foods, because they are higher in carbs, water and fibre. This means you get full very quickly, because water and fibre are very filling, and yet, you will not be calorically satisfied because you havent actually eaten enough calories, even if it seems like a lot of food.
What happens then is that your adrenals kick in, and so your blood sugar levels are lowered even more. So you cant get to sleep because yuor body is saying, were still stressed thankyou, because we need some more fuel.
It takes some time to learn to eat enough fruit carbs on 80/10/10. Bananas are one of the best sources, since they are denser, higher in calories and contain slightly less water than many fruits. smoothies are a good way to begin stretching your stomach slightly too.
My advice would be to check out nutridiary.com so you can work out your caloric needs (or take your ideal weight in pounds, multiply by 10 and add 600 calories for exercise...more if youre very active). Then log your diet and exercise habits for a week or two, just so you can get the hang of how much food equals how many calories. Then you can play around, so say for example, ok what happens if I add another 2 bananas?...etc etc. so you can plan for the next day, learn from your mistakes etc.
Hello Dierdre,
I am raw(since Dec 05) and live in the DC area. My diet isn't everything, and I see we have common interests in Acting and hiking. I belong to the NOVA raw food group and the NOVA hiking group(they let me belong even though I live in MD. You can find both groups at meetup.com
Yeah, the school system is like that. I understand it when a teacher just puts completely inappropriate, but to reduce all school employees down to nonhumans with no life/interests besides maybe their subject matter is kind of harsh. I took a look at your blog, I love it. I admire your courage.
Wow thank you so much Deidre, I am actually traveling Internationally now so please wait on the T-shirt order! Right now I can only process books, DVDs, ceramic knives/peelers, the T-shirts in a month...:) Thank you so much for your friendship, support and for just being SUPER RAWesome!:)
Thanks for your response to my forum post...it's too easy to get stuck in that self-loathing spiral, sometimes all I need is someone to use logic to remind me of what is really there. I appreciate your honesty and it's helping me to look up.
Thanks for posting! I went to the dentist today and was absolutely delighted when I heard the dentist comment to the hygenist, "she has beautiful teeth, doesn't she?"
WOW! Coooool! Haha, all thanks to raw food!!!
Yeah! I have been getting into apples big time, and discovering new ones that I have not tried before like the Honey Crisps! I always like the Gala too great for raw recipes!
Thank you for your positive words everyone. I've been raw for 8 months and it was simply dissappointing to have gone through such a binge! Besides I felt physically awful!
Onward we march from here! lol
