Coming up to three years raw. High-fruit, Natural Hygiene-oriented, non-supplemented vegan diet. (I do eat rawgourmet occasionally, eg at restaurants/potlucks and occasionally make rg dishes at home.).
For more information on me, and raw generally, see my website at www.rawforlife.co.uk.
For regular articles on raw, see www.debbietookrawforlife.blogspot.com
Please note: Although 'high fruit', I am not '811'. But I agree with a lot of the things 811-ers say and will contribute in any way I can to discussions where I see the perpetuation of popular myths about fruit-based diets or that include posts accusing 811-ers of being 'evangelists', subscribing to 'dogma' and the like (yawn).
I will also offer 'the alternative' view if I see 'advice' dispensed that persuades those new to the most nutrient-packed diet in the world that their diets will be lacking unless they purchase 'miracle mineral supplements' and the like.
Finally and most importantly, I do believe people can be successful on all sorts of vegan/vegetarian raw food diet, EVEN 'LOW FRUIT', so I hope I've made that clear to anyone who would otherwise be tempted to put me in some sort of 'camp':-).
(Note - vegan/vegetarian only, as I don't regard animals as food. If do find myself in a discussion with someone who appears to be putting forth arguments for flesh-eating, I shall likely 'disengage'. Perhaps we can find common ground in some other area. So that I can refrain from debate on the forum, my reasons for not eating meat are here:
It would be good if certain raw food promoters would stop implying that anyone who follows a different diet is doomed, and I include amongst those some of my best fruitie buddies as well as the 'too much fruit is dangerous' people :-)
I'm grateful that there are so many different personalities and approaches amongst the raw food leaders, as that will maximise the number of people who come into raw. Once we find out about raw, we can then find the type of diet and approach that 'resonates' (that word again!) with us.
And, finally, no, diet is NOT the only thing that affects our health. But looking at what we put into the hole beneath our noses is a good first step!

Debbie I was noticing the post below, your site is called rawforlife.... perhaps you should come up with something a bit more original, there is already a rawforlife out there, and has been for a while. --> www.RawForLife.com Taking a name that has already established itself is kind of frowned upon, so is talking bad about people on other boards. ;)

We were just in that area 2 weeks ago, but back in Scotland...hopefully, will get back before year end. It's finally warm and sunny for a change on a day off, but we are working in doors.
Hi Debbie! Thanks for your comments. Ha! Too funny. I love working out so I haven't lost weight like a lot of people do going raw. San Clemente is nice. Hope your well and enjoying summer! :)
Yes, that's what I was referring to. It supposedly releases small amounts of chlorine dioxide in the body. Good thing then - it will only do a small amount of damage. At least that's what I think. Its being touted by some raw food sites here also.
I'm sorry. I realize after I wrote it how negative I was being. I think I reacted so strongly because I thought of your post as an attack too. I think we all should be allowed to post things on general chat regardless of our chosen diet. They are all raw diets after all?
I am trying to work on my overall issues with negativity, as per the suggestions of my mentor, who I am studying non violent communication with. I will try to find ways to say what I think that don't make the other person feel guilty, which is a form of violence. Just because others do it doesn't mean I have to.
So I am sorry! Hopefully you will notice a change in my posts as I edit myself better!
The dates for 2010 are now on the website. Last year no one wanted to leave the island, so this year we are doing 10 day retreats!!

What other book can you recommend Angus?...staying with those kinda ideas, living in alignment with nature, natural hygiene, fruit diets, fasting (or anyone else :).
You know, I'm aware that we made some groundbreaking discoveries in recent years ...
I'm not going to comment on climate change. But i will comment on carbon trading. Because they can produce such a consciousness of fear out of global warming - they are able to manipulate markets much more severely - and they seem to get away with...

I've started this group in order to find and link with people who eat raw food in and around London too. We can share ideas and books, meet up for potlucks and even go out for meals together
In the past couple of days, I have had some ugly and unwelcome visitors knock on my door. Their shadows have darkened my doorway, and these guys really want to be heard!
