If she's not willing to go raw, just getting her to do a green smoothie in the morning, a green juice at mid-day, and a green juice at night, she could probably keep eating cooked foods if she had to, and still get results. Especially if she chose...

I`m very sorry to hear this. That`s what`s so wrong in America - not getting treatment because you can`t afford it. Here in the UK, altenrative medicine is an extra for those who can afford it, but conventional treatment is for everybody! All the...

Profile Information

About Me:
I have been interested in and have been studying raw foods for a few months now.. since the end of 2008. I had gone almost 100% raw for a few months but I started eating more cooked foods again, and that is where I am at right now. I am trying to include more raw foods again.. but i find it difficult to stay high raw, and im working on figuring out how to overcome that.
Just some random tidbits: I have 3 cats who are my children. I am pagan, but I am slowly realizing that I do not need to label my spirituality. It just is what it is. :) I live in Missouri, but would love to live in Portland, or Hawaii. ( I know.. two totally different places. lol). I would love to travel someday, considering I have only been to Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, and Oklahoma. :( I was a vegetarian for about 4 years, but I always ate the wrong things, so I didn't get healthy and I didn't lose any weight. I love Raw foods. ^_^

How can the community best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, fitness tips, etc)
I would love to meet people who have lost a lot of weight by going raw and other people who are in the transition to make their life better.
Relationship Status:
Single
Favorite Raw Food or Recipe?
Bananas, avacados, blueberrys, mangos, spinach, salads, mushrooms, fuji apples
Interests (outside of Raw Food):
I love to learn.. about religions, diets, lifestyles, cultures and so many different things. People intrigue me and I love to people watch. I also love to spin fire (poi). I have not been doing it as much as I want to lately, but that doesn't mean I still don't love to do it. ^_^. Music is a big part of my life, and it is with most people. When I am home, the radio or someting almost always on, (though I do like some quite time just to have some quiet. lol). Pagan spirituality is something I am also passionate about. My spirituality is something I hold very dear to me, but I am not religious. I love learning about other religions too, and Hinduism and Buddhism intrigue me. I llove going Camping and going to festivals at Camp Gaea in McClouth Kansas (especially the Heartland Pagan Festival! What fun!!). Water is my element, even though i am an Earth sign. (Capricorn/Aquarius cusp). I love to swim and just be around water. I would live by a waterfall if I could. I have 3 cats who are my life and my children, and they make me soo happy. And lastly, life interests me. All the lessons that we learn and the things we experience, people we meet.... its just wonderful. I love life.

My first juicing journey

So, on sunday I had set out to juice until friday or sat. Was all determined..thought I was ready. I had gone and gotten what I thought was enough fruits and veggies to juice and started my juicing journey. Today is the 4th day... and I have decided to break it. There are many reasons at the moment. For one I was not as ready as I thought. I didn't have any supplements, no enema bag, and not enough variety of stuff to juice. It is day 4 and I still haven't poo'd. This morning I was going to try… Continue

So.. about my juice fast..

I had planned about fasting/feasting for 6-7 days. Basically the duration of my vacation. I have been reading about juicing online the past couple of days.. and they say to actually see result.. about day 14 is when it starts to happen. I have also read that if its your first time of juicing, about 5 days is good. Then next time try a little bit more.. and then a bit more. Im on day 2 right now. Im doing alright..I have hunger pangs, but they are not that bad. I am drinking plenty of water.. don… Continue

August 22nd, 30 pounds gone

I have been on a weight loss journey since basically the beginning of the year.. maybe a month or two longer. There were a few months where I didn't lose anyweight at all... and I have since started keeping track of what I eat and my calories and working out more.. and my weight is starting to come off again. Yay! When I first started this raw journey, I had weighed about 317.. but come to find out I probably weighed more than that because I was weighing on the carpet.. not a… Continue

I just saw your video. I know some raw foods are cheap while others like cacao powders among superfoods and exotic foods are expensive. Really look into growing your own wheatgrass (without soil). I'm doing this right now. Also learn how to forage for wild edible plants. WIld edibles are higher in minerals and nutrients and organics. I have been on a raw foods diet since january 08. I was up and down all last year. Sometimes I'd be 95% raw and sometimes I'd be 40% raw or less. The problem last year wasn't the fact that I ate cooked foods, it was my all or nothing attitude which incouraged binging, yo yoing and inconsistancy.

I eat cooked foods and I plan to lessen my cooked food consumption but I'm not worried about it as much. So I used to be all about staying away from cooked foods (negative) to concentrating on my high nutrient essential foods (positive). ( I hope I am not preaching)

So concentrate on developing a strategy every day. Do trial and success to see what works for you. Make your meals simple. Get a couple excersize buddies who want to make the comitment on a regular basis. Do you know about meetups.com. There is a website called: www.meetups.com you type in your interest and you can join a group based on your interest lets say "walking". So if there is a walking group, the site will send you e-mail updates on when the group will meet. I am currently doing this with raw foods and a couple other groups and its excellent for connecting with likeminded folk.

I have lost 70 pounds and kept it off these are my strategies so far diet wise: (still adjusting diet)

VITAL AND EXTREMELY CRUCIAL

LEAFY GREENS
kale, spring mix, spinach (darky leafy greens)
1. 8 oz or more juiced, made into a smoothy or eaten plain with fruit
2. crunchy, hard fruits or vegetables that contain solubale fiber to keep you regular and flush out your cells
includes: apples, celery, carrots, kale, broccoli, cauliflower etc
3. water (filtered, spring or water from the spring)
4. fruit, fruit, fruit (at least 5 whole fruits a day or roughly 2 lbs)
(not juiced just in whole form (this should be your breakfast to normalize your blood sugar and elliminate cravings for junk, if you are on a budget try bannanas because you can still get them organic) I still eat non organic because I am on a budget too. Sometimes you can find apple trees or fruit trees and pick the fruit without even paying for it
5. the healthiest, most deliscious dish that doesn't weigh down you body mind and spirit

Good luck with everything that you do hope this helped. I did so much trial and error. It has taken me years to develop this strategy and so far its working.

P.S. I have a hard time sleeping without some nightcap food too. I was addicted to bananas and almond butter before bed, but I'm trying to phase it out by freezing bananas in the morning and then making raw ice cream at night.

hi stacey, I was doing Hatha Yoga, that involves asanas, prayanama, bandha and mudras. Apart from yoga we were taught Anatomy, Psychology, Philosophy etc., so that the students of this course could teach yoga and take it as a profession later.
