I live in Tokyo, and have little problem in getting fruit and veg, but I do struggle to get some of the fruits I love at a cheap price, such as mangoes and papayas. At the moment, there is a huge range of locally grown melons, and the shortly ther...
Hi, I'm from Brisbane, Australia, but I currently live in Tokyo. I've been eating 100% raw about 2 years, and I'm into simple living, minmal consumption, and ashtanga yoga. Together, they are central in my pursuit of physical and spiritual health, and form the centre of my ethical view on life.I've lived and worked in Thailand for a year, and have returned a few times for meditation retreats in forest temples, and to travel. Recently, I was in graduate school in Australia, and then a research student in Economics in a Japanese university, hoping to research about how to live in a more balanced way and in an "ethical economics system", but I finally realized that rather than researching this, what I really wanted was to "live it". So I jumped out of that game and adopted a simpler life. Actually for the last 7 years I've pretty much been living a minimalist life. I currently teach part-time at universities and sometimes do translating work.

Hi Colin! When are we going to meet I wonder? I've seen your profile in meetup groups in Tokyo... I'm just west of Tokyo myself, near Hashimoto at the end of the Keio line of out Shinjuku. I've been in Japan since 1995, but only a few years here, and only a few months raw (though 20 veg!)
Hey Colin, reason for Japan? I went to japan on a snowboard/backpacking trip a couple of years ago and loved it. Got a cheap flight through Jetstar ($275 gold coast to narita one way!) Haven't worked out what date I'll return to oz- I only have 3 weeks leave. Still deciding on wether I stop in Thailand for a week (I have a friend in Bangkok) on the way back, as I've never been there before.
Hi Colin,
email me reply please darrick@darrickcook.com
I am in Philippines for FEB/March...that would be great to see you....there is a place next to mine for 1.50/night, ocean front, on a surf break, you can surf or body surf...nice place for yoga too...feel free!!
let me know what you end up doing.
Since I read NOras website I have been practicing waiting for more true hunger signals and lost 10lbs..i love beeing leaner and more intouch with my insides..we can practice this together it will be very helpful as a team effort....i believe i am 6'1" and 140lbs now.

Hi Colin,
I too have been eating Cooked vegan indian food....its definitely unnecessary, but I have let my addiction to cooked foods win. I have it fairly under control now to eating All Raw fruits all day long until 6:30 pm, then I have my one cooked indian, spicey, curry meal with rice and chapatha or naan...I have no problems physically, but I know that the RAW way is the BEST way for me...I will be back asap.
cool to hear your coooked 'joyride' lasted only a few days....mine is a much much longer.
HI Colin,
I have been enjoying India very much....currently in Kovalam (fairly near to where you were in Mysore)....The fruit I am eatin is mainly Bananas of all types, papaya, pineapple and coconuts....the mangos are not in season...i did eat some custard apples.....I havent found the fruit you found in Mysore.
I am heading to Davao City, Philippines for the final durian season...I read it is still very available....then head to Lanuza for surfing.....
You have any ideas on Philippines to add?
I am doing masters in Eng lit plus cultural studies.
oh yeah your meditation sounds so cool. i have been through some practices. i was looking for a vipasana retreat in Mysore that i had heard of.the one in west bengal does not provide you anything raw. its not a necessity really but still i would be looking forward to the new one!
Oooh Thailand forests!!! oh wow! if i had the money, id have so liked to go!:)
take care, stay blissed out!
Oh wow! where you on a yoga retreat here? i wish to go for a meditation course in mysore! and yes, dear, in Kolkata fruits are even cheaper than Mysore! trust me! Even while as a vegan and a student(which i still am), the cheapest thing to have would be fruits!!! am totally blessed with the fresh local produce of my country! and you can see that people do eat fruits here despite being omnivorous, ewww! hahaa!
so how bout the next time when you come to India, drop by in Kol???! i really wish i had some hardcore raw vegan friends to hang out with and be with!!!
hi there.. thanks for getting back to me. oh, how did you like mysore? i was thinking about going there, too, but have now decided to visit an ashram in tamil nadu.. so you wouldn't recommend bringing any additional foods (bee pollen etc.) at all? i'll be on the road for 7 months and i'm afraid it will be quite hard to stay raw, so i thought about taking some basics with me.
anyways... thank you so much for your advice, will keep you posted! hope all is well with you,
nadja

I was at a red light. Same thing also happened to me when Rudy Guiliani crossed in front of my car. Hitting the gas did occur to me for a second or two.
