Nah, I bought it cuz it was cheap, compared to all the other nut butters. The packaging could have been in zebra stripes and I'd have still bought it.

Which one are you?

This was an article from Planet Green's website, courtesy of author Mickey Z. I thought it was amusing. The title of the piece is Green Glossary: Granola.

You realize, of course, I'm not talking about breakfast. Rather, with some help from the snarks at Urban Dictionary, here's the scoop (sorry) on granola and other earthy thangs:

Granola is "an adjective used to describe people who are environmentally aware (flower child, tree-hugger), open-minded, left-winged, socially aware and activ… Continue

What it means to live in a "normal" society

This is excerpted from a speech that author Mickey Z gave last year on the anniversary of 9/11

What is normal in our country and on our planet? What type of society have we humans cultivated as we sit arrogantly atop the intellectual food chain?

The New York Stock Exchange was shut down by the 9/11 attacks, but once things returned to normal, Wall Street went back to making decisions that impacted horrendously upon the large majority of the globe while the top one percent of America… Continue

Genesis 6. There are two main lines of thought on this.
1. The "sons of God" were angels who came down and slept with human females.
2. The "godly" sons of Seth took wives of the "worldly" daughters of Cain.

I've always thought this indicated angels. But either way, what I believe about this passage does not change my view on God.

Dang it, by definition I am religious. But only two out of the five.
•concerned with sacred matters or religion or the church; "religious texts"; "a member of a religious order"; "lords temporal and spiritual ...
•having or showing belief in and reverence for a deity; "a religious man"; "religious attitude"
•of or relating to clergy bound by monastic vows; "the religious or regular clergy conducts the service"
•a member of a religious order who is bound by vows of poverty and chastity and obedience
•extremely scrupulous and conscientious; "religious in observing the rules of health"

I've never said that the church doesn't propogate information. However, I don't believe in the absolute inerrancy of condoms even though I'm sure they're effective (studies show, science proves, blah, blah, blah)...
Being religious has always held bad connotations for me, I don't consider myself to be religious. And I try to avoid extremism almost at all costs.

Yes, I comprehended it. I know that the church (of any faith) propagates information to its own use. I'm aware of that. But I'm still not a lock. Just saying.

I'm not sure The Mediator is really concerned about being cool. But this song says he is... so it must be true. A song never lies.

Great speech. He made excellent points about extremism. Also what he said about Jesus not being accepted into the modern church is probably spot on.
