Hi Brenna...I'm new and in CT too! ITA with you about the green smoothies....they're my new favorite thing and so much easier than an oil-covered salad.

Profile Information

About Me:
I became interested in raw food in 1997, at age 16. I've dabbled in juicing and fruit-until-nooning since then, but it didn't really stick. Last year, someone recommended the book Green For Life to my husband. I read it and we've had a green smoothie almost every morning since. It is such a sneaky, yummy way to get the greens in and makes the raw thing seem more do-able. I never could get myself to like salad.

All raw (pretty much) yesterday!

bowl of strawberries in almond milk

mango/raspberry/baby spinach smoothie

spicy flax crackers from Raw Food Real World

baby spinach salad with olive oil/flax oil/acv dressing

fuji apple

cashews

dates stuffed with almonds

chocolate pudding made with avocado, young coconut meat, agave nectar, cacao, vanilla

I felt great and had enough energy for a vigorous workout (running, crunches, pushups). Maybe I will try all raw every Tuesday.

Hi Lee, I agree with you in many ways and would have said an unreserved yes to your statement before I tried raw vegan eating. Maybe it is different for different people, but I have been totally surprised at how much what I eat has been affecting ...

Soaking might help, I really don't know for sure. My father eats soaked dried chestnuts. The dried ones are really hard and they get a little bit softer when soaking them, but they are'nt as sweet soaked.

This is what my mom recommends too. The thing is I live in a high-rise building in NYC, so I'm definetely not "grounded". The grounding bed technology makes sense, but it doesn't feel natural to me. Has anyone tried it? Did you notice any changes...

Would soaking them help? I've read that nuts in general has alot of anti-nutrients & soaking is always suggested.

Does anyone make raw recipes for their pets? Do you think it's healthy for dogs to not eat meat?

I LOVE this post. you have nailed on the head so many things that I think, about religion, food, dogma, etc. It's true that so many legalistic people do not realize that what they're doing may come off badly to others; just trying to find what is...
