20 Days of Raw - Day 11

I don't know if this is a common thing for anyone having gone raw, but I haven't really noticed any major changes in the way I feel or think since my last post. The thing I have noticed is that I am more mentally and emotionally charged and centered. It's something I've never really experienced before.

For the first time, I am mindful in the present.
...I am not dwelling on my past hiccups.
...I know that what I am doing right now is the best thing I could ever do to nourish my body.

Th… Continue

20 Days of Raw - Day 6

I'm almost at the half-way point of my 20 days and I'm feeling great!

The only major hiccup, so far, was that I allowed myself a vegan (un-raw) dessert a few days ago. It wasn't a moment of weakness as it was a self-test of my will. I told myself that it would be okay to eat it and decided to go ahead and do so. The funny thing was that I was full after just one bite (not to mention my previous dinner of raw sushi and a kombucha drink). I savored that one bite which was an indicator that… Continue

20 Days of Raw - Day 2

I'm currently chowing down on some fresh herb salad with some cucumbers and carrots added into the mix. Tasty.

Day one went just well. I was tired all day - partly due to my son deciding that we should all be awake at 5:30am.

He's right, but we've always been late to bed, so this 5:30am business was to abrupt to be a welcomed change to our standard regiment.

I also started feeling like I was on the brink of a headache towards the later part of the evening - probably due to not having consumed… Continue

Joined a Local Meetup Raw Food Group

They're currently running a "20 Days of Raw" contest/promotion/whatever that I decided would be my catalyst for going RAW and sticking with it!

They set me up with a buddy, who just happens to already be on giveittomeraw - what ups Bethany!? - So, yeah, they must have read my mind because I have a very difficult time doing anything and sticking to it unless I have a buddy to help give me that extra push when I'm just not feeling it, so I think this could work out nicely!

several months later...

I've been having a really tough time sticking to any sort of raw diet these past few months. It is especially tough because I have to plan meals for my (nearly 2 year old) son, as well. He is a very picky eater and likes sweets (like PB&J, raisins) and not much else. I will say that he scarfs down the beans & rice we make him for dinner, but most meals are a struggle.

There really is no easy way to break the cycle of eating the crap that our society has manufactured for the mass… Continue

We are supervised for clinicals. I think right now ours is still about the students getting experience followed incredibly closely by the greed game, if not tied with it. Ours is a relatively new program, though, so I think I'm getting it while it's still mostly untainted by the money machine. The private tutor sounds like a great idea. Good luck in school and life. Well, I have to go. Have a great week.

The website is definitely a must here. Thanks for the idea. The internship isn't required for the program, I just want to get started sooner so I can gain experience while I am still around people I can ask. We also have to do 4 months of clinicals around our other classes. I love doing/learning this and the people in my class, though, so it's worth it. Thanks for the advice.

I finish my classes the end of June and will take the test the first available slot after that. It's so exciting. The massage internship is a paid internship available here to students who have at least 100 hours of classtime and are pursuing a certificate. The student is responsible for obtaining practioner insurance ($200 through AMTA, in qualifying states) and a license through the city. Oh, yeah, and you have to be working under a LMT certified and practicing in your city. I am just wondering about building a client base. Are there any promotional ideas you could pass on? Thanks so much, Margie

Hi Ben,
I, too, am starting raw slowly, but it's wonderful. I saw you're into massage therapy. I am going to school for it now and starting my internship next month. Are you licensed? If so, can I pick your brain for advice about getting started?

I dont smell like fruit, but since getting all the processed foods out of my diet I find I hardly need deoderant. Theres definitely a noticeable improvement. What are people supposed to smell like? In nature, animals smell musky.
