About Me:
Namaste and welcome. The custom-built Bocas Yoga Studio, on 4th Street, Bocas Del Toro, Panama, was designed specifically for the practice of Yoga, and also includes a separate massage room, bookstore, and full bathroom with shower. Nowhere else in Bocas Town is there a space that's devoted entirely to Yoga practice. Here you will find a safe, comfortable, noncompetitive, nonjudgemental, air-conditioned, sound-proofed haven in which you will have the least amount of distractions, in order for you to more fully focus inward. We are located in the big purple building across from La Casbah restaurant in Bocas Town.

The teaching style at Bocas Yoga is an eclectic mix of Hatha Yoga, ifluenced by Anusara Yoga, which uses principles of alignment to promote safety and empower students to achieve their full potential. Each class interweaves heart oriented themes to connect students to the deeper purpose of yoga. Some classes are also inspired by Kundalini Yoga, dealing with un-locking the creative potential that already exists in every human, through exercises designed to awaken and tone the chakra system. Lessons include warm up pranayama (breathing exercises), a steady sequence of asana (physical postures), and a stress-relieving final relaxation cool-down. Classes are designed to be challenging, yet creating a sense of ease at the same time, toning body and mind - incorporating the concepts of effort & surrender. We also offer Meditation, Belly Dance, and Pilates.

Yoga is noncompetitive. It is not just a work-out, it is not just techniques for relaxation, and it is not just cross-training. It is a spiritual practice that makes the body stronger, more flexible, and generally much healthier. The purpose is to calm the mind, open the heart, and get us in touch with our True Selves. A toned body, stamina, longevity, detoxification, and youthful looks are pleasant bi-products of a regular yoga asana practice, however, the true meaning of yoga is to uncover and realize the pure goodness that resides within our True Selves. A regular yoga practice can help us acheive that goal. No experience or flexibility is required to practice yoga. Yoga is for everyone. We respect the point each individual is at.

The Bocas Yoga Studio was designed using principles of Vastu Shastra, the Vedic science of architectural alignment and placement, upon which Feng Shui is based. The way of Vastu aligns the studio with the subtle energies of nature, in order to enhance health, happiness, abundance, and contentedness to those within it. A beautiful blend of science and art was implemented in designing the perfect place for you to practice yoga. The studio is a solid, well-built studio with hard-wood flooring, lots of natural light, a movie screen, a surround sound stereo system, and beautifully uplifting murals on the walls, creating a nurturing ambience.

Hi Bocas,

I have trouble with my balance. Did you ever? Have you heard anything about a balance/middle ear connection?

Awesome mission statement. I've been doing Yoga-Pranayam-Meditation for an year or so now. The kind of stuff I've experienced in energy going up & down my spine was just unreal (bunch of Chakra meditations).

I've been doing a certain set of asana sequence that helps relax a lot of muscles for me. I was wondering to ask you specific asanas for certain issue if you can guide me. Thanks.

hola, chica bonita-can i ask your opinion. i want to continue studying yoga and i feel it will give me many positive results, making me stronger, less stress, have more clarity etc. i also love it as a form of excercise, and right now i am concentrating on losing fat (it doesn't feel good and it is literally keeping me from getting deeper into some poses). do you feel that i should concentrate on more cardio -maybe do yoga 2-3 times a week instead of daily and then do dancing, running, biking etc. most other days. or do you think yoga will help me through it alone? thx love.
