I love fruit, yeah yeah yeah!
I dig the 811rv lifestyle.
I decided to eat raw food in order to be a healthful being.
I knew I was due surgery in 2007, so in 2006 I used my common sense and thought "What is really healthy?" And the answer just popped into my head "Eating raw is a start!"
So I had a look on the web to investigate this answer in my mind - and lo and behold, came across a huge network of people who lived the raw food lifestyle.
It felt great to know that I could do this and not be all alone.
So from that day on I started including more raw foods into my diet. I was already a vegetarian of 12 years, and a pretty much vegan for about 5 years.
To begin with my diet was experimental as I revelled in all the new foods I was experiencing.
What helped me have a raw food mindset was reading online, especially Shazzie's blog as she detailled every day as a raw newbie.
Then I discovered more raw gourmet foods and came across the not so wise philosophy of "As long as it's raw - it's fine!" Well that wasn't what I needed to hear really : )
I had my operation and healed pretty well! Which was the whole idea of eating raw in the first place. Over the first winter I ate quite a bit of cooked and didn't feel good for it. I put on some weight - then by eating more raw, but a very fatty raw diet I lost a bit of weight, but remained at the same weight for the whole of 2007.
I have never been consistent with my weight, so eventhough it was a bit higher than what was ideal for me, it was very pleasing to be at the same place all the time. It actually gave me confidence in some respects as I learned to dress my body shape instead of always changing my clothes in response to body weight. Gok Wan really helped there!
Anyways, I then took a good look at myself in the mirror and realised that deep inside I wasn't THAT healthful and looked a little bit padded out. So I had a good long talk with myself - I told myself that I shouldn't fear being healthy or being slim. That I can do whatever I want and nothing is permanent, every day is a new experience and I should just embrace anything I desire.
Soon after saying this to myself I found Dr Douglas Grahams book The 80/10/10 diet - which has really changed a lot of things for me.
It has helped me relase negative old mind patterns, as well as finding joy in the fact that I can eat a lot of food as I do enjoy eating - and knowing that this is okay.
I LOVE the fact that I am eating as my body was designed to digest.
I love being a living human monkey!
I love that I have a body that can climb, jump, run, swim, and I crave living in a more natural setting.
Raw food has totally changed my life. It has allowed me to feel happy, to have confidence, self esteem, respect and love for other people.
With eating raw I have started gardening, and being more aware of my affect on the planet, so I now recycle and take care not to have a giant footprint.
With eating raw I now enjoy exercise for what it is - moving. Instead of a tool to simply lose weight or burn calories.
I can't praise eating this way enough. It really is wonderful as it brings people back into a more natural mindset.
I have the dream that people across the world will be more aware of the plight of animals raised as livestock and chose a vegetarian way of life.
Hopefully I can somewhat influence people to realise that our traditional Food Pyramid is all wrong. By not consuming grains and meat I'm confident that people will experience a more healthful way of living - with compassion!

So do you pretty much eat fruit only or do you mix it up? I'm down here in Mexico vacationing and I have been eating pretty much fruit only with the occasional salad, avos etc. I just finished reading Professor Arnold Ehret's book and he provided the motivation for me. Have aslo been fasting and feeling great. Wonderful fruit down here. Any books that you recommend?
hello Azura S! Thanks for the nice reply back. No worries about not responding right away. It was just nice to hear from you. I DO love your idea of just "thinking" about things rather than being so rigid in keeping with some diet.. actually I'm doing a beginners version of 811 and things are working well.. I haven't perfected it yet! Thanks for responding back.. always love reading your stuff.
I SO loved reading about you! I am about where you were about your weight. I'm just about right, but I find that I see saw between 3 to 4 lbs. and I don't like that. I eat way too much raw fat in the way of nuts and olive oil. And I'm always exercising to burn calories. How did you find such a health balance? I want to read more of your blog when I have time.

Yeah really that was just my negative response to Arnold Ehret's book from an emotional standpoint. I just found it lacking in completion. There's good logic in it though.

I'm not going to comment on climate change. But i will comment on carbon trading. Because they can produce such a consciousness of fear out of global warming - they are able to manipulate markets much more severely - and they seem to get away with...

I've started this group in order to find and link with people who eat raw food in and around London too. We can share ideas and books, meet up for potlucks and even go out for meals together
