I just recently began eating raw to try and clear up my skin. I hope it works! I'm sorry that it hasn't been working. Have you found anything that does work for you. Like staying away from certain foods?

Hey Asta! Thanks for that wonderful comment. My roommate took that photo. And to answer your question, yes it does! Its the best pie I've made so far! I'm having a hard time topping that one. The texture is hard to beat :)

Profile Information

About Me:
I joined the raw revolution ;) early 2007. I love the healthy lifestyle with lots of exercise and great food.
I work as a marketing manager at a software company but before I only worked as a dancer, teaching and in theatre - I am still teaching and choreographing but as a second job.
All my life I've lived a quite healthy lifestyle compared to my family and friends, never drank soda, coffee nor smoked cigarettes. But dairy and bread is the Icelandic way of eating so I did not escape that one.
The main reason why I started on raw food was because I was hoping it would help with my skin problems (acne and eczema) and it has helped!

Like drinking cream - yummi :)

My all time favorite smoothie is like drinking a thick tasty cream - even my dad loves it :)
You won't even get bored with it, it's been my favorite for almost two years now.

250 ml / 1 cup almond milk
1/2 frozen mango
1 T flax meal
1 T Lecithin
4 pieces of raw almonds

Into the blender for 1,5-2 min - depending on your blender, mine is a regular 750 Philips.
Just be sure to blend it until it is really creamy, if you don't blend it enough it isn't that good.

You should try this asap, you're go… Continue

Raw coconut butter is the bomb

I find so many people missing out on the glory of raw coconut butter (not coconut oil). This great ingredient made preparing food so much more fun, and tasty.

My favorite recipe with raw coconut butter is the chocolate cake from the book "Raw food Real world" - You should all check it out. Also I use it in smoothies, dressings, creams..yeahh mostly in desserts.

It isn't sold in Iceland so I buy it in a big container from the US twice a year :)

Where to go April 25-28? Any events?

I have two free tickets, one to USA and one to Europe and since I am on vacation in April I want to use either one - or both :)

I can't seem to find any interesting event or course that is on during April 25-28th. It can be a raw food course or some kind of raw retreat thing...if there will be fun and great group of people I'm in ;)

Any suggestions are appreciated :)

Asta.

"Raw wine"

I have noticed that people sometimes talk about raw wine. To me it sounds like a false statement because I would have thought that even though organic products are used, they would still need to pasteurize it or process it some other way.

In my favorite raw cook book, Raw Food Real World, they have a chapter for cocktails. They are using:

  • sake (admitting it is produced from steamed rice)

  • sparkling wine

  • still wine

I dont smell like fruit, but since getting all the processed foods out of my diet I find I hardly need deoderant. Theres definitely a noticeable improvement. What are people supposed to smell like? In nature, animals smell musky.
