The apple porridge was really simple, 3 cups soaked almonds (nutsonline.com has some great unpasteurized spanish almonds), 1 apple (cored and peeled), 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of Celtic salt. Add some agave for a little more sweetne...
Right on, this has been my strategy and approach when discussing the foods I eat with co-workers, family, anyone who asks or is interested, it's effective, and definitely a step in the right direction IMHO, great post!
My journey along this path started somewhat unexpectedly. For years I would buy Organic / local as much as possible, and avoid meat, but did eat fish every so often (sashimi was my weakness). Never really thought much about eating raw although I was vaguely familiar with it.
I decided to go on a juice fast with some raw fruit and vegetables added, I had no idea what I was in for. I had more energy that I've ever had before, I felt great, ALL of my cravings disappeared. My meditation had become greatly enhanced and I felt so 'connected' to everything. The experience was so intense that I started reading as much as I could get my hands on and learned the theories and science behind eating 100% raw. Everything that I read made so much sense, and I've been 100% raw ever since.

Hey!
So wow you really have been an inspiration to many people, cool!
Actually I told people pretty much the same, like how good I felt and about all the great storys I've read but it didn't really click with them. I mean I could sense that they thought it was rather nonsense. For example I recommended trying raw to a friend who has colitis with really serious flareups. As you can end up getting cancer I thought people would try anything but she didn't even consider it and would rather try a recommended diet for colitis that is high in lean meat.... I mean????
I figured that if I stick to the diet myself and people will (hopefully) notice changes they will get interested in what I'm doing rather than me 'lecturing' them about the benefits.
I'm still doing really well :) Apart from some nori sheets that weren't raw I've been 100%. Unfortunately I just don't know where to get all those fancy products in raw quality like nori sheets, maca, cacao powder and so on. We do have online shops that sell raw products but just not the great variety you seem to get in the US :(
So how are you doing?? Probably still good...?
Thanks a lot for your comment! I find that just getting a message from someone who actually is raw helps a lot :)
That probably sounds weird but I just don't have anyone in my personal environment who has even heard anything about the raw food lifestyle and even though to me it all does make so much sense I sometimes feel like a weirdo when I tell someone about it. I guess telling people or eating out are the most challenging things for me. How did you tell people and how did they react? Luckily I do have rather open minded friends and as I'm a vegan they already know that I'm a bit 'different' when it comes to food ;) It's more relatives or collegues at work...
This is getting rather long, you see I really need someone to talk ;)
Have a great day/night (don't know the current time at your place).
BTW my first day went really good, I've already been high raw for a short while though.
Hey Anthony, just stumbled across your profile in the 30 day raw in June challenge. Just wanted to say how great I think the 'and I've been raw ever since' is!! I've had similar experiences of feeling just great while doing only a week of 100 % and very low fat. Unfortunately I just didn't stick with it a 100 %. Well anyways great you did it and there's still hope for me with the June challenge ;)
Hi Anthony, thanks for joining my group! I'm not a total raw foodist yet, but I'm getting there.....My family and I stayed at the Tahitian Inn in Tampa about 5 years ago and we loved the area. It will be fun keeping up with you; I just love being a part of the GI2MR community.
yes! you'll have to come on down sometime. june 6th we're having the next ETA RAW PI party. check out www.rawkstarevents.com. we'll be adding more soon. additionally if people request an event in their area and there's enough people, we'll travel to do an event
since I find no reason to believe in 'allergies' against 'natural' appropriate stuff, I would think it's more likely just the fact that pineapple if bought in store is pretty much always unripe. Not that it matters to the situation perhaps.
...but...
Nicolas have you ever had a pineapple that does not give symptoms. In my experience around these hoods where we are there are practically no ripe pineapples..or perhaps a few dunno
Yes ma'am. Resting as completely as possible with eyes closed; getting enough water; avoiding too much sun; avoiding toxic substances (personal care products, cleaning products, etc.)
I enjoy writing about the deepest darkest secrets of my heart, about things I dont want to share with anyone..or lack the guts to share. Love letters mostly, but not always. If I have a dream I want to remember Ill write it down.
Come on woman! No time like the present! We may now have one more spot for our March 20 to May 22 internship session; this is truly a life-changing program and an amazing bargain...
Thanks Priyam! You are very kind and generous with your appreciation, and I appreciate the specificity. I agree with you completely that fasting is generally very poorly understood, mostly feared, and almost always avoided.
Though someone once su...
Hey Michele! We fast 8-10 people per year for 6 weeks and most of them have amazing experiences. Incidentally, though some people imagine there's a need to "work up" to a long fast like this, many are fasting this long for the first time; in fact,...
