In Russia sauerkraut or "kvashenaya kapusta" is a staple food among with other fermented vegetables, during the long cold winter. From my memory, here is the simplest recipe you need absolutely no equipment for: Shred the cabbage - finely or coars...

I love Sauerkraut and kimchi. I use the Harch crock, and also the Pickle, Sauerkraut, and KimChi Maker. Both are available at http://store.TheRawDiet.com/pisaandkimch.html

I have one just like the one in the photo in your link. Way better than my Samson juicer for wheatgrass and barleygrass - the pulp you get out is almost dry. My only word of advice would be that if it starts to get tough to turn the handle, turn ...

About Me:
A Scot living in rural Buckinghamshire. Been 90% raw for coming up to two years (since Sept 07), and feel healthier, fitter and younger than ever. This is the latest stage in a journey that started when I met my wife 10 years ago when I was heading for almost certain ill health (if I wasn't in fact there already). Can't quite believe how my health has improved and now evangelise about the raw lifestyle to anyone who listens!

Favorite Raw Food or Recipe?
courgette spaghetti with marinara sauce; raw chocolate; raw apple pie

Nice to be back

You know how sometimes life gets in the way of living? Well, that's how it's been over the past few months for me.

Everything was all going swimmingly, and I was taking part in the 100 day raw-food challenge; then a whole host of issues came along which have left me very short on spare time. Things to do with home, family, end-of-year business accounts, the tax man, the VAT man, work deadlines, extended working ours, working away from home, computer issues, setting up another business,... the l… Continue

Hard Work

It's the weekend, so I should e resting, right? Apparently not.

This morning I went to the gym and had my first crack at the new fitness programme set by my trainer. I have to admit that the running on the treadmill almost killed me! Mind you, he had set the thing to go at faster speeds than I had run before, so I'm not overly surprised. No doubt that with regular practise it will become more achievable.

The weights side of thing went far better. I'm embarrassed at how little w… Continue

Getting fit for life!

I've never blogged before because I've never found much I wanted to blog about and share with the world. However, it's about time I jumped on the bandwagon...

I've never been the most physical of people - I played active games when I was a kid but I was never heavily into sports. I'm one of those people who has never been really unfit, but never been really fit either.

In recent years I've made several attempts at doing regular gym exercise but I've fallen by the wayside on too… Continue

HAHA you're the second person to say that it actually looks like me LOL!!!!! I dunno whether thats a good thing I look like a south park character or not yet haha. At least she's cute an happy looking LOL

I still can't believe it was only 17 pounds, so good!! Did you go to the one on tuesday?

I'm re-reading The China Study at the moment as a reminder of why trying to be high raw is so important. I feel heaps better already though as I've been in the gym every day this week and ran for 50 mins this morning so I'm getting there.

OMG ANDREW!!!!!! The flat is in fulham (3 bed) and I'll be moving in with my best friend (raw-friendly/supportive although not raw herself) and her friend from work and it is PERFECT. I can WALK to work in SW3!!!!! I did it last night in cowboy boots and it took me 25 mins so you're looking at 40 - 60 mins of exercise everyday without even trying and environmentally better than taking the car. CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. There's 2 bathrooms and they're both really high spec beautifully done, I could dance in the bathroom its that big, seperate bath and shower, beautiful kitchen through to living room. Ahhhh its just stunning. 15 minutes from fulham broadway, dance attic, bikram, the david lloyd in fulham. SO lovely. I absolutely can't wait. I'm moving in the end of January so I'm just so excited. I'm hiding that well I think though, do you think? ;o)

Dad's a bit concerned in only the way dads can be but he supports the fact I'm 27 and have made a decision regardless of if he thinks its the best idea. For the money i'll be paying its amazing. Not to mention a whole lot of fun. :o)

Hey Andrew!!!!! How was the Fresh Network thing with Brian Clemens? I cannot believe i was only SEVENTEEN GREAT BRITISH POUNDS!!! What a Bargain, gutted I couldn't make it. How was the raw cake?!?

I'm viewing a flat tomorrow too so won't be able to make the other thing (which is a shame as that one's longer too isn't it). However will definiely be up for exposing myself to some more rawness very soon. Seem to have just about got myself under control before Christmas so thats always good!! t'll be my second year veggie christmas so I might go all out and try a raw christmas this year.

The positive news is GREAT!!! :o) Thanks, all a bit more uplifting than doom gloom and and credit crunch bust and boom-ness.

Let me know how tonight went won't you!!! :o)

Hello!!!

It's so cool that you have found success with your diet. Let me know if you find out any good info on foraging in London. I'll keep my eye out for you too. We should organise a foraging walk or something in London at some point... would be cool.

Best
