Baby Steps

I am finding that sometimes i set goals for myself and occasionally i fall off that path. In the past i would have kept putting off doing what's best for me until a later day without ever really starting up again. However, in my raw experience thusfar I find that sometimes i fall off the raw path but when i set a time and date to start again, i actually stick to it. in part this is because i am actually listening to my body and my body is actually communicating. i have tried to listen in the pas… Continue

New Year

i'm not a big fan of new year's. it just doesn't have much meaning for me. and yet in the past i have made it a point of reflection and inventory of my life thus far. this year i did not spend it doing this. and i think that i should have. if fact i'm planning on it tonite. i didn't think if affected me in a positive way this ritual of mine, but it has. i felt a distinct longing for it.
i am also finding that the longer i am eating raw the more in tune with myself i am. i have heard of this expe… Continue

Finally Home

After a week of visiting and traveling i am finally home in peaceful vermont. i did so well through the holidays in terms of eating. i continued to lose weight while i was home and i was not tempted by any of the cooked non vegan food. i am feeling healthier every day and look forward to the next level of health. my plan is to buy some more raw "cook"books and continue to experiment with raw meals and food.

Feeling Complicated

So right now i am struggling with being with my family. I do not generally enjoy being around them, and i come home because it's expected and i have to. this year is very different for me. i have the strongest sense of self i have ever had, and yet i am the most anxious and self conscious around them, more than ever. i am so used to being with my partner and being supported 100% that it's really hard to be around people who ignore me or criticize everything about me. and if i try to talk they do… Continue

Holidays

I am in Albany, NY at my parents house. I wish I was with my partner. I am waiting for my sister to come home but her flight has been delayed because of weather. My parents stress me out, and I hate coming home, but at least once a year I have to. I don't like being away from MY kitchen with MY gadgets and MY food choices. My parents eat a lot of meat and pasta. I am doing very well here though and I'm super proud of myself. I am eating mostly raw with cooked food only once every few days. I hav… Continue

Hello Andrea,
I'm not in Vermont, but I commend you on your work at the WRCC. I have the Ishmael books but haven't read them yet. I'm from Buffalo, so I know snow! And I miss it. Be strong in your beliefs and causes. I was a Veg at 17 and my family (some of them) didn't and still don't understand. I don't worry about it. Empower yourself!
Happy New Year! And keep it raw!

Hey, its great to meet another social worker, that is very admirable work that you do. Im a residential social worker for children. People in our field, i have found, are generally liberal and accepting of alternative lifestyle choices like ours :)

neither wins because the world isn't fair- and we are constantly having to deal with it. the more conscious you are the more you see how unethical people rule the world and you can't wish them away by feeding your happiness with cacao. it's a fun ...

How long did 50lbs last you? A week? I would recommend that a person get some greens to go along with their bananas.. did you forage for any greens that week?

Wow Id like to hear more on this from other people as well. I am not sure where to get info on things like this either- I just know my personal experience with a low carb diet. I still believe in low carb for the most part but plant based live foo...

That is a good point Angus. I have found that a lot of fundamentalist religions accuse everyone else of worshiping the devil and it like a blind hysteria- like all these other people have a black bible in their house and secretely worship a statue...

Yeah really that was just my negative response to Arnold Ehret's book from an emotional standpoint. I just found it lacking in completion. There's good logic in it though. First there'sDr . J. Tilden's book on the cause of disease. Toxemia Explai...

I'm not going to comment on climate change. But i will comment on carbon trading. Because they can produce such a consciousness of fear out of global warming - they are able to manipulate markets much more severely - and they seem to get away with...
