Favorite Quote:
"I’m just sayin’…and wondering…how can we hold so still and be so careful when red mystic poets, like Rumi, (or Neruda or Mirabai or Hafiz or Leonard Cohen) are touching our tongues and tickling our Ids? (this same question applies to exquisite symphonies, paintings, dance performances, orchids, eclipses, fine chocolate, a resplendent tattoo, and anything and everything that makes our spirit gasp) I’ll venture some answers: Perhaps because we’re overly trained and too well maintained. Because our flesh has become too private, our movements too planned, monitored, and habituated. Because we’re embarrassed to let our heart’s run the show. Because our inner worlds have become too precious, our minds too controlling, our breath too shallow. Because we’re shy, distrustful, and forgetful of our true naughty numinous nature. Because we worry what others will think. Because we might get arrested or scare the neighbors or attract pollen. Or maybe I’m just speaking about myself." Sera Beak

Thanks for the file! A lot of it I have read already....been doing a ton of research on cancer the past few months. ;) But some of it is nice as a refresher and I like that it's a file rather than a book to keep on my pc. Thanks! That was sweet.

Hey,
Def. understand the whole disorientation deal. I had the same problem in Mexico, as well as my cousin's wedding. the wedding was the one time that I was lucky my family is pretty westernized in their diet. The only thing available that did NOT have meat or cheese was salad :)
So both at the reception and at the rehearsel dinner i ended out with huge salads. I gave up on trying not to drink though. Gotta say I haven't gotten to theb point of giving up alcholl or coffee and I honeslty don't think I ever will, not 100 % anyway. Mostly I stick to wine and all the coffee I get is organic and fair trade, so it isn't as bad as it could be.
How was Spain by the way? Where in Spain did you go? Cookbooks, hmmm, def. Ani Phyo's book. It's one of my favorites. Also Eating Raw for Dummies (sounds corny but it works.) I haven't had a chance to invesitgate much else yet. From what I've heard Rawvolution is really good too. Being at school I'm honeslty a little less strict, mostly out of survival.
The new job's going well. It's a t a buritto/smoothie/salad place. All organci, and they make most of their own stuff on-site. Also no microwaves, at all which I love. My last job lived and died by their microwave. This place also has the best salsa ever.
I love Arthur Miller's books by the way. I haven't read any in awhile but they're fantastic. I jsut finshed one for ANthro. that was really good called The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. It's by Anne Fadiman. I hated the ending, but the rest was fantastic.
As far as salad dressings, my step-mother makes one from Balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and parmesan cheese (I use pepper in place of the cheese) I also just found a good one that's made from ginger, Bragg's, lemon, and olive oil. I tned to use lemon & pepper or lemon and Balsamic. Hope that helps. Do you have any good suggestions for green smoothies by the way? That's one I get a little stuck on. I do alot of salads and fruit smoothies but can't find one for green smoothies that I like. Hope things are going well :)

Hey,
I'm sorry for not being in touch for so long. My cousin's getting married, ironically the same weekend as my brother. I also started school and a second job so life has been past insanity for the last couple months. Finally calming down now thoug. I have a second job, school's stared, and the weddings are almost over, so I just wanted to check-in and see how you were doing. How's the raw life going?
It's been a little tough snce I ot back to school but I just foundb some great smoothie and salad recipies so as soon as I et back from the NY and have time to go grocery shopping I'm def. trying them.
Hw's the finding new books going? Any ideas? I've got a couple hours to kill this weekend sitting in JFK and on the plane so if you have any ideas I'd love some suggestiond. I'm working my way through the Twilight books right now. By my vote, they're o.k. but I'm nt really seeing waht all the hype is aabut. Maaybe a big part of that is I think Edward's a cold-hearted jerk and Bella drives me up a wall. Like the storyline though :)

You wanna both snowboard and ski? You usually have to stick to one if you want to master it. Not saying you can't do both, but maybe wait until you got the hang of it before switching up.
