I did my first Bikram class last week and doing another tonight. I'm so glad I liked it. I've been high raw for 3 months now and I think that really helped because I managed the class quite easily (even with quite low blood pressure). I thought I ...
No sorry, you can always try a garden salad at subway if you are stuck....? OR go to the supermarket, and in their kinda fridge section where the spinich bags are, they have tubs of fruit? Could just get one of those?
good luck. :)
Hi does anyone know of a good cafe in New Plymouth that might be willing to make me a raw lunch? I'm going there this weekend with a bunch of friends and don't want to be caught out. Amanda
Hi Jenny, I'm finding that too, when I drink coffee with cow's milk in it. I only have one a day so it's pretty obvious that that's what's causing it for me. I'm also finding traffic pollution is doing the same thing when I walk past stinky busses...
hi just commenting on that you are interested in catching people doing bikram in Wgtn - I have been doing it now since autum in the last 3 weeks I have started to do it 6days a week. I am starting to undo my running injuries gaining flexibility. I reckon raw and bikram are a most ideal combination - by the end of the year I can imagine having a completely different body and greater sense of well being. I cant wait. I see that bikram will motivate me to go more raw.
Not sure how long for yet. At least a week. I might go longer though. We were going to start on Sunday, but maybe I will have to postpone til Monday and come to the potluck. I'll check with my fellow juicefeasters!
Hi Amanda, I also do bikram. Sort of. I go to Hot Yoga on the corner of Tory and Wakefield. I like it more than Bikram. I found that a bit too militant. The studio is so nice and the instructors are all amazing.
Hi Amanda
Hmm no bake zucchini chocolate cake sounds good. There are a few wellingtonians here on this site which is cool. Who was your osteopath? What great advise they gave you. :)
Hi Amanda!
I hope you're feeling good today! Sring is in the air over here, so I plan to go out for a walk later in the day, and get some of those vitamin Ds:)
Working with an osteopath sounds great, I've been recommended that too. And I would recommend reflexology, it has made such difference for me.
How lucky you are, to get a chance to meet Victoria Butenko. I've read her book and I loved it. I certainly amped up my intake of green since I read it! The green smoothies are so easy to work into a diet. Everyone shoud do it.
I understand that Natalias approach can seem a little confusing and if you don't have problems with digestion maybe you don't need to work so much with food combining? Since my intestines are my main problem, I have improved a lot just by combining foods better. But everyone is different and has different needs, right?
I hear you in the coffe, except mine is tea:) I'm really not willing to give up tea. Imagine a long Swedish winter without tea? No, thanks!:)
I take bee pollen too, I don't like the taste so I mostle use it to seeten my almond milk. Works like a charm.
I hope you've had a great weekend!

Hi Amanda, that's brilliant that you got off the meds. There's a growing raw community in Wellington. Pure Wellbeing sometimes host raw potlucks and talks. Me and a couple of other friends are trying to get some going too. So keep in touch.
Hi Amanda! I'm glad that you have found raw, I really do believe it is the only way to achieve health. Sorry to hear you're having detox problems. I know, it does seeem that most people don't have so much trouble detoxing, I think it's a lot different if you come in to this with an illness (or two) to battle. First you have detox and then you have your body trying to fight illness... I work with a homeopath and a reflexologist now, and that makes a ton of difference, especially the reflexology. I'm also off all my regular medication, which feels great.
Are you following any particular raw diet, or have you simply upped your intake of raw veg? I stick to Natalia Rose's detox diet ( a transitional diet, I'm not 100% raw) and I try to add greens (spinach, parsley, etc) to all my smoothies.
Let's keep in touch and I wish you all the best with raw!

About Me:
After 15 years of medicating for allergies, asthma and chronic pain, my brilliant osteo told me that I needed to reduce my use of pain killers because my liver was distressed. He suggested that raw green veges could help. That was two months ago and I am now entirely drug free and a few weeks into the raw food lifestyle. It's a total miracle and really so obvious. Wish I'd been able to figure this out earlier. I'm keen to meet other raw fooders in Wellington.

Hey Nicolas,
I literally have the same thing going on with my lips from pineapple. I ate it more than 2 weeks ago, and food was really interfering with it's healing, and it made it worse bc it would rub against the cuts. I decided to fast for two ...
You have to do what is right for you. I have been eating at leat 50 percent raw since january 2008. I used to go up to 98% but now I'm just trying to make the best choices every day instead of being 99% one day and then the next 40%. There is alwa...
