Go for rainwater if you can - and then a Brita filter would cut it I imagine - no major nasty fluoride etc to get out then. Apparently alkaline water filters are the way to go if you want to spend up some more... Anyone got any recommendations?

Yes. You can take those internally to help your immune system as well as put in cheese cloth and used as a compress. I hope you feel better soon!
