  • Information on bipolar Added by Jasmine on November 14, 2009 at 3:03pm in General Chat
Someone very close to me has expressed that he was diagnosed with bipolar a few years ago. Now that the season is transitioning into winter, I am noticing that his moods are more erratic and the things he says are very negative and worrisome at times. I've inspired him to eat healthier to an extent (he is mostly veg with some fish on occasion) and quit smoking cigarettes. At one point he went vegan for a few weeks, but reverted back to his cheese addiction. He eats a lot of cheese and a good amount of fried foods, which he knows he shouldn't be eating. He drinks alcohol every day sometimes heavily sometimes just a drink. He smokes pot more than three times a day and claims it helps him with his moods.

Do you or anyone you know have any suggestions on how I can help him through this? Perhaps, you know some good online resources where I could go to get more information?

    Thank you!

He is currently not on prescription medication for this disorder. (I don't like calling it a disorder). For this...mental/emotional obstacle?

Wow, helping someone else, what a challenge, been doing that for years, and I always say, that's the last time, like my 400-lb friend......so hard.

Can you get him on raw goat's milk? 'Twould be an improvement at least.

And, of course, the deal-breaker.....how much does he want to help himself? I don't even wanna guess.

wow that is a lot to deal with... the best thing for him to do would go cold turkey and quit everything at once and do a green juice or water fast... the main thing is that he is chasing too many highs right now for it to be easy unless he makes the decision that it is really what he wants to do and then go hard core. There are some herbs that may help like lobelia for addictive behavior but really he is just going to have to tough it out.

I wish I had more to tell you but if he isn't willing to try then you should cut ties with him because it's not good for you to have that kind of negativity around. If he could find a good yoga class with a lot of breathing exercises that would be a way for him to get a natural buzz and may ease his transition. Good luck with this.

Then we could talk about the psychiatric industry, how corrupt can anything be. The medical complex....selling pills, proclaiming someone's "normalcy". People trying to act "normal".

Even Jimmy Durante understood, "Why don't people just leave people the Hell alone".

Yeah, I know, many people feel they gotta fit in, I don't mean to make light of all this.

But I some how just gotta make light of all this, at least to shed a little light.

(You didn't hear any of this from me).
