Give it to me Raw

Hey ya'll, I practice Bikram Yoga while being 90-100% raw. When practicing my concentration is so much deeper and I am able to give 110% majority of the time.

Just want to know who else practices BK. What are your experiences? Do you have any specific foods that you eat before class or after class?

Love it. Really tough, but a good intro, and a good way to detox. I'm beaming after class. I mostly do 'Tony Sanchez: Yoga Callenge' which is essentially Bikram advanced at home.

I did one class of this before I was raw and I found it really hard towards the end of the class. I had no energy left and started getting a headache. I think I wasn't hydrated enough. I am thinking of trying it again now that I am raw.

You'll love it Raw. The heat allows you more flexibility, go deeper. Bring towel and Water. Looking forward to bringing it back in on a regular basis.

I used to love Bikram when I was in the states and could tell a huge difference in my practice when I went raw, concentration, strength and flexibility improved dramatically! Bikram was the first time I learned experientially about toxins and how I felt after I had had caffeine, or alcohol the day before and how it affected me. Once I went raw classes became so much easier, and I had less to detox so it was not so draining! I miss those classes, hopefully someone will build one in Panama soooon!

Smiles,
Beth

hello to all!
i just discovered this site today
and i am extremely delighted!

also i just discovered bikram's yoga about a month ago
i have been practicing a mixture of hatha , ashtanga and kundalini for a few years now (5)
however i am so in love with bikrams and enjoy the energy of the classes

also i like the repetative structure and how good and detoxified i feel after.

i find that having lots of celery and bananas, but mainly celery really helps after or a few hours before class
cerley is packed with minerals(similar to the salt in our body) and also electrolytes, which is lost during practice.

also i've been transitioning to almost a raw diet and i find that being pretty much 90% raw for the past few weeks i notice i sweat much less during bikrams and also i don't feel tired or drained after class
i feel very powerful, light and humble about the whole thing.

being capable to do great yoga and eat divine food is indeed a blessing
one day i would love to do bikram's in india with the real heat and the sun

I've been practicing Bikram for a little over a year. Actually I'm taking a break as I've been a bit burnt out from it (no pun intended). But it's been a few months and I'm starting to crave it again. It's rough stuff but you do feel a definite glow afterwards. Good stuff.

So I just got back from my second bikram class (the first one was before I was raw, a few months ago) and it was pretty tough but not as much as the first time.

Before the class I drank 500ml celery/apple/spinach/ginger juice and 500ml water, after the class I had 500ml water with lemon juice and himalayan crystal salt, 2 bananas, 400ml celery/apple/spinach/ginger juice and 2 cacao/coconut/date balls. After the first class (pre-raw) I had to lie down in bed with a headache! Now, that I am raw I am still pretty exhausted , a bit nauseous and a bit detoxy, but in a good way.

I just have to force myself to go back and I'm sure I will get used to it more. How long did it take you guys to get used to the heat?

You should do it!!! I've never heard of such a deal for the 30 day challenge. That's awesome. Bikram is hard. But the kind of hard that will leave you blissful afterwards. I love Ashtanga too but there is only one studio downtown and it's nowhere near me. ANYWAY, Bikram is great in its consistency. You don't have to be a rock star to try the 30 day challenge either. Honest. Just jump in. Seriously, the hardest part is just showing up to class. If you just try your best to do the postures, you will feel universal love for all beings and inanimate objects even.
DO IT!!!

my magic bullet burnt out, it was good for travelling while I had it though. Can you get a second hand blender? The cheaper ones I have used don't chop up the greens as well. Try to get something with a higher wattage, like 1000watt.
