I felt lots of hostilities toward science in the comments of this group and that’s why I’m posting this comment.
I agree that a phenomenon might work and we might not have an explanation for it in the current state of science. That doesn’t mean science is useless.
For breatharianism I think the answer is well known in science which seems to be a state of relaxation happiness and long fasting.
What I also have problem with is saying that you know what's behind it, which is some kind of “divine power”; an explanation that can be applied to anything without the need for science and the hustle of working your mind.
Try to remove the word "divine" from most of sentences in your comments, and everything works fine.
Science is not what companies do to sell stuff, like most of the members here think. Science is the process that human developed to understand the world surrounding us which makes our life distinct and worth living.
Speaking of making profit, human developed many deceptions to make money. The easiest way is the mumbo-jumbo clergymen and religion. Take the example of Deepak Chopra, who is gaining a multimillion dollar profits by making mumbo-jumbo using little science mixed with lots of mumbo-jumbo, exactly like the ideology behind breatharianism propagated in this group.
Science should be your hope to distance breatharianism from other false premises.
I’ve seen many people go into a state of euphoria with joy sometimes and crying some other times when they recite the “words of god” as they call it to kill the “infidels”. Their belief defiantly affected their physical and mental status but that doesn’t mean it is true.
If you want people to take you seriously, tell them what you do and how you feel. People need to be convinced before making this huge step. I gave the raw food a try only after I heard Dr. Graham talk. He made sense on every level.
Science is what makes our lives worth living. Just like when Faraday was asked sarcastically “what is the use of science” he replied “what is the use of a baby” meaning that if we are not trying to understand the world, what is the use of our existence?!
Please take the effort to understand and study science before you decide to give your mind a rest and resort to the easiest “divine” explanations.
