Give it to me Raw

I recently wrote an article about the benefits of using medicinal doses of herbal teas to nourish the body. I feel this is an important part of one's transitioning to either a raw food diet, or prana diet. I have been working with teas for a few months and I never feel hunger, rarely feel cravings, and I'm eating less and less solid food, hardly any actually. The article is on my blog or you can read it on my GiveItToMeRaw page. Blessings fellow adventurers! www.ScottsRawJourney.com

great article. you've got me converted.

what herbal teas would you recommend to help transition to a pranic diet?
(eg: herbs that would help with appetite reduction)
& which ones have you used for this transition?

Hi Scott! That is so amazing! You really look like a different person in your after shots!! I didn't see the part on herbs - is it in your blog?

But it's hard to get past the dramatic changes of your raw transformation. Have your relatives seen the pics?It must have been hard to give up smoking and have all thoe toxins come out. Do you have any thoughts on that? Have you been meditating and stuff a lot?

There are really so many herbs to choose from, but I tend to prefer those known to be adaptogenic or used for immunity modulating...Also, the herbs from the amazon, in order to survive in such a competitive environment, develop more complex anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-tumor, anti-fungal qualities than we find in herbs grown in North America. They tend to be very potent when interfacing with the human bio-chemical-physiology. I highly recommend making cat's claw tea. P'au D'arco is often touted as being amazing, but most of the impressive research has been done on the core of the tree. This is used by the natives for building material. The shaved bark is what is sold on the market as herb, and although it's possible, and probable, that it has medicinal properties, there is apparently no scientific research on the outer bark. It is also oftentimes combined with the shavings of maple wood (i believe it's maple) and sold as P'au D'arco. What it is. My favorite herbs to work with: Cat's Claw, Holy Basil, Olive leaf, Red Rooibus, Schizandra berry, and milk thistle. Also, guarana is an amazing adaptogen that acts as an appetite supressent, especially in combination with raw cacao. They help the body send signals to the brain to not eat when not hungry. Raw guarana has absolutely no caffeine. The caffeine is only activated if it's heated (or fermented). Raw guarana is a seed from the amazon that is ground up into a powder, never heated. One more tip, Milk Thistle supports the liver, and the liver needs all the support it can get! I highly recommend throwing whole seeds in every smoothie. If powdered, the volatile oils often turn it rancid, so the seeds are best. Thanks to everyone for checking out the article. I should also mention that I started selling raw guarana on my website www.IAmBeautifulSuperfoods.com in a formula called Rainforest Rush in case you are interested in trying it. It's the best ever!

hey scott..thanks for the great info.

by the way, how many months/years have you been on mainly liquids?

& how long were you raw before that?

I'm interested in how long it takes the body to get accustomed to this (liquidarianism), & really not want solid food.
For me so far, my body seems to get used to liquids only in about a week, but its my mind & emotions that seems to want solid foods.

everybody's body is different...all i can share is my own experience, but that shouldn't be taken as advice or the only way...although i've been 100% raw for almost 2 years, vegan for 6, my interest in solid food has declined dramatically recently as i started drinking medicinal teas, eating superfoods smoothies with david favor's product line (radical health), and living in a rural environment (even though it's the desert, i no longer desire fruit)...i work at a raw community (tree of life) and part of the salary is 3 free raw organic meals a day,,,,but i only eat at the cafe 2 or 3 times a week now,,,maybe this is a phase i'm going through, but when i read about breatharianism, it feels like i'm transitioning to it...again, this is NOT something i set out to do,,,it's just happening and i'm just trying to flow with the changes and see where it goes...bottom line is that it feels right for me and my body at this point in my life...if somebody is interested in living on liquids, my opinion is that the medicinal adaptogenic herbs work at creating the necessary energetic balances, and combined with the superfoods, the body is saturated with minerals which help detoxification...there is also the emotional, habitual aspect which you mention which is better not to fight if it feels like you are intentionally depriving yourself of something...hunger, after all, is more than a physical sensation...what are we really hungry for?

thx for sharing...i can't speak for everyone, but in general, it seems like raw fooding is still an addiction to food...i can see fruitarianism leading easily away from the addiction to food, but since i don't eat fruit, i can say that it is possible to move in that direction from green juices and superfood smoothies (and herbal teas)...personally i think we are all moving in this direction as part of an energetic ascension, and that the means to get there will depend on the individual,,,there's not just one way

reminds me of an image of a man sitting on the crapper while eating a turkey leg...in one end, out the other...BUT many of us need to cleanse and get pure before we can even think about living without food, so it's all good

yes i have been feeling this also. the universe/guides have been showing me to use herbs to transition to prana diet. usually it is very casual like, easing my way into it over the past years. recently, it has started feeling like the transition is more imminent. i know there are subconscious patterns to clear related to food consumption - so i will let that be the now thing. :)

Hi El-bo, You're absolutely right; sodium is not the problem, but sodium chloride, and inorganic mineral salt which always causes water retention and raises blood pressure. We don't need any of that.
