Welcome! Open your books! Leave your hemp choker at the door! Let's have a discussion about this diet without the picket signs and moonbeams getting in the way. This forum was born from the frustration of several raw foodists who, in top secret meeting places throughout the world, have voiced our need to talk about the hard facts on eating uncooked food. Make no mistake! We are interested in the diet! Many of us are 100% raw! Some of us (sadly) wear birkenstocks! But what we all have in common is highly trained, precisely tuned meters for the detection of horseshit.
Personally, if I read one more goddamn post about some raw foodist who is trying to coax their poor schizophrenic aunt off her medication just because they got the cockamamy idea that mental illness is really just a result of fast food--I'm going to firebomb the nearest drum circle.
Eating raw veggies and fruit = awesome.
Living a life critical of a corporate-controlled media and food industry = Terrific!
Believing in every claptrap idea that you read about on patchoulipants.com = Yucko!
Membership criteria are as follows:
1) Have a sense of humor. If you don't have one, fake it.
2) Spell-check.
3) If you wanna state an opinion as fact, be prepared to back it up.

One of the things that I plan on doing here is posting links to, and text from, interesting outside articles.
Here is a piece that just appeared in the NYTimes regarding the potential side effects of parasites. In this article, a scientist actually infects himself with hookworms in order to study what he believes are the connections between the species and our own allergy reactions.
This touches upon a lot of questions I have about parasites, microbiology, and the whole idea of the raw food diet and all these cleanses cleaning out the other organisms inside our body.
The NYTimes is free and never sends spam or ads.

I think to question or put in perspective everything that shortcut your right eye vision for a split second is a healthy habit, I do not reach the skeptical stage of complete turning the whole tortilla up side down but sort of try to imagine and tasting it before even trying....imagination is a powerful tool...
so instead of using my inquisitive eye I just use my intuitive mind with tuned in senses...
after all we are what we believe, true of false still we exist and build whole humanities based on that ...

Are you crazy women? I love animals. I had frogs,fish,birds,cats, all at one time. My apartment was a zoo at one point. My cat at that time got hold of some of my love birds. Wasn't a pretty site.
