i know the importance of quick exit meals, but i also feel like raw is super important. i try to eat the raw choices that are appropriate for correct food combining but in some cases i have a decision to make. like if i made the raw apple pie from the book, but ate a veggie/starch meal for dinner i shouldn't eat the pie because of the nut/dried fruit part of it, the other option may be a starchy yet cooked (SAD) dessert. which is the better pick?
great question! rules can be prisons. let them be tools, listen to your body and follow your intuition!
if you eat a starchy meal, you could still have dark chocolate for dessert - or sprouted grain toast with honey - and be following the proper food combining.
maybe the best idea is to try for yourself. eat the raw apple pie w/ nut crust after a starch meal and see how your body responds. if you feel heavy or get indigestion, that's information. if you feel energized and light, then the combo might work for you. even if you feel heavy after, it's ok to do that once in a while...the world won't end, and "tomorrow is another day..."
In my experience, it's important to stay high raw, but equally if not more important to stay well combined! Food combining is really essential for digestive health, and digestive health is essential for the feelings of lightness and energy that we all crave.
A good raw option for a starch dessert would be an avocado pudding (and you can combine dried fruits with avos) or even some baked sweet potato with agave or stevia and cinnamon. I've got some low sugar desserts up on my blog right now (www.choosingraw.com).
If you want the apple pie, just try to stick to a nut based dinner. Hope this helps!
Great question I would say pay attention to how you feel after you eat. If you feel great go for it --if not choose again.
And I have noticed that at different times my body wants different things. I like to really listen to my healthy cravings.
Like lately my body is wanting a little crumbly cheese on my salads. So I just go with it.
I stay mostly raw but if my body wants a healthy food choice like Salmon I listen and a little goes a long way.
I like how Diana says no rules. I agree. Give me a rule and I am going to rebel. --Just more fun.
I have not been following any strict guidelines when it comes to food combining. But I can tell that on some days, my body does not want me to combine certain types of foods. And on other days, I eat foods that aren't supposed to be eaten together. Its amazing to me that if you listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs! And I have found that if I don't stop and try to second guess my cravings, I feel incredible! Does any of this make sense? I hope so. Just listen to your body and you'll be fine! :o)
I'm planning to start enemas too (I think when my roommate will leave next month...). Of course it's unnatural, but we have eaten unnatural for years and years and I believe it can help a lot getting out the waste.
