There is a brilliant book on moon cycles and how we can harness the power of the moon. It's called Moon Time (The Art of Harmony with Nature and Lunar Cycles) and was originally written in German as Vom Richtigen Zeitpunkt. It's by Johanna Paungger & Thomas Poppe. My life is very linked to the lunar cycles now and I lead ceremonies every month on the full moon. The new moon is when the earth will best support the planting of seeds and transplants. In Belize, wood is harvested by moon cycles because it's directly connected to the immune system of the tree and how resistant the wood will be to insects and weathering. Understanding the earth-moon relationship can be a good entry point for examination of calendars and cycles in our lives.

Thanks for the info Walker. I want to look into this further when I have more time. I am hoping the resident calendar expert RV will have time to write a more extensive discussion about this.

Your book sounds very interesting Walker and I will look forward to reading it. My conclusions have been drawn more from person experience and a trial and error based approach to schedules. What I've found is that in order for our bodies to keep track of time, they use what in german is called a "zeitgeber" or "time-giver". The sun is one of those, with the light regulating our melatonin, which regulates sleep. The moon, provides us with an ideal "visual" or "observational" calendar on a weekly / monthly schedule, as each phase is approximately a week long, and of course, the month is a "moon" long. Whether there are unknown regulators from the moon, which affect us subconsciously, such as its gravitational pull, etc I think is a very interesting topic of study as well. I can speak from personal experience that coordinating my months and weeks with the moon, with my "weekend" or rest days on the phases has proven immensely restful and synchronized for me. It's been a real "ahhhh . . . this feels good, this feels right, this is how it's supposed to be" experience. Since sharing this with others, I've gained some interesting insights from their experience as well . . .

Cool I can't wait to hear more! Specific examples are what I want. Even a week long chart to show what we could all follow to see if it affects us. Just focus on one part of the country to start with..

I think it would be more accurate to see when we feel certain ways and compare, since if we all were expecting something at a specific time, our expectation might influence the outcome . . .

eh?
