I had a girlfriend who's Diva cup went bad. It was not pleasant to say the least. However, she's the only person I've heard of this happening with so it may have been a fluke.
I've never been a fan of tampons, and other stuff just made me feel bad - about the amount of waste. Ideally I would just like to run around naked in a field with blood dripping down my legs and then go for an evening swim in a lake...but that's not an option right now :)
I had to ask, cause it's supposed to last like 10 years and is made of implant grade silicon... If it is the diva cup. I don't really understand how anything your body can not react to can make a reaction like that.
It's silicone, not a perishable food product. If she wasn't washing it properly, then there could have been bacteria on it that started smelling bad. In that case, it's easily solved by soaking the cup in a weak solution of hydrogen peroxide or boiling it, and it will be good as new!
Remember to use a gentle, non-scented soap to wash your cups with! If you wash it with something floral scented, there can end up being residue left on your cup which can lead to stinky cups and possibly yeast infections depending on the type of soap used or if you're sensitive to catching them.

My friend had this happen to her, she had a yeast infection at the time and her cup starting smelling really bad.
She basically stuck it in the dishwasher with no deterrgent and it was fine.
folding wise for insertion- the U shape with the tips facing away from me works the best.
removal is a little uncomfortable but no more in relativity than a dry tampon. plus it doesn't take all your natural moisture which is a huge plus for me. that was something i dreaded about tampons.
i love the ridiculous amount of waste it cuts down on and the fact i never have to run to the store anymore.
twisting it to make it "pop" open into the full circle to ensure it's sealed doesn't work as well as using your muscles to do so. using your muscles also aids in removal.
i absolutely love that i can truly observe my cycle, i'm much more in touch with it, down to the ounce.
i had one leakage problem the first time on my heaviest day. just like tampons, i need to empty it more frequently on that day. i haven't had problems since when i do that.
it makes so much sense to me, i wish i'd had known before. it's empowering and makes the details of that time frame such a non-event. i love it.
I disagree with your definition of spirituality. I personally define spirituality as simple awareness, both of yourself in your actions and to your surroundings, as well the connection you may feel to all living things. No belief in something happ...
