Durian Lovers: Let's Feast At Raw Spirit! ROOM LOCTION FINAL FINAL UPDATE

ALL RIGHT DURIAN LOVERS WE'RE ON!

DURIAN FEASTIVAL - YOUR PRESENCE IS A BLESSING

WHEN: FRIDAY EVENING
TIME: 5:30 pm
WHERE: ROOM 610 UTI'S ROOM AT THE RAD
Our room has a patio or we will overflow onto the lawn.
HOW TO FIND THE FEASTIVAL: Go to the front desk and ask for Brad Burns' room (aka Uti). Try my cell: 707-223-1269 Or follow your nose.......
BRING: durian, greens if you like, compatible treats, and LOVE.

I have borrowed a mondo cooler that will hold 9 to 11 monthongs. I am willing to buy extras for peeps, keep them frozen on dry ice and bring them. You can reimburse me at the feastival.

email me if you want me to buy one for you: utpara@wildblue.net First come first served.

To me this feastival is about getting as many durian lovers, old hands or newbies, together as possible to share the love. Come ready to celebrate our abundance and share your durian. If you can't get a durian and want to come, by all means do so and bring an offering to the feast. Nobody cares what that is; it's an energetic thing and could be as simple as helping cleanup and haul the durian husks to the trash. Your presence is a blessing!

If you're driving to the festival and can bring durians for others please post here ASAP.

And of course, we would be looking for a sacrificial durian virgin.
Oh Pink, nice try, but I didn't just fall off the watermelon wagon. Can one lose one's cherry to a durian and not suffer from poor food combining? Did you check out that Shazzie does durian video on the S.E.X. discussion?
Yeah, I seem to be getting my sense of humor back thanks to you, Charles and Pete. After last Saturday I'll never look at a banana peel again without giggling.
Pink,
Try asian markets, particularly Thai, if they have one. Use a hard cooler as these guys have pointy spikes and will puncture a soft cooler. You're not likely to find any fresh ones, but they do exist over here from time to time in high season, which I'm told has passed for Thailand. Look for nice sharp spikes and the whole thing should have well defined lobes. Keep it well frozen until the day you want to eat it. Give it about 12 hours to thaw at room temp. If you bring one to GITMR you might want to keep it on dry ice. I'm thinking Friday evening for a feast so we don't have to keep them frozen past Friday morning.
Thanks for the health warning and inspiration to come to Thailand, d.r.. Fortunately I don't eat very much imported durian. I suspected that they were heavily treated for export. I live in the coastal hills 200 miles north of S.F. and I don't travel much, so I rely on friends who go down for potlucks and supply runs to get me one every now and then. Have had fresh only once.

My local raw yoga pals U and B have gone to Thailand for vacations, but not during high durian season. I'll get there in the next year or so. Perhaps I'll find an independently wealthy durian loving mate in Sedona who wants to go travel eat durian and practice yoga, hahaha

I'll see Doug in Fort Bragg next week at Living Light.
sounds nice! gotta get down to Thailand some time! I'm always in China or Taiwan, there's durian there but cant tell what s organic & whats not, if it's imported or not.. How do you tell?
Hey! Yeah! There are several of us who might like to join you on that Durian Feast. We were wondering if they'd be available at the festival. Some of us will be staying at the same hotel and we've been connecting through twitter. When you get there, if you follow me on Twitter you can connect with us there. I'm Rawbin on Twitter:

Rawbin, That'd be great! I'm thinking Friday evening at an appropriate break time from the festival schedule. So folks would need to acquire their durians Thurs evening or Friday morning, if available locally, and have them thawed by evening time.
Jennifer,
Where in San Diego can you buy durians?
I have been dying for a Durian for the last 4 months!!!!! I would love to join the feast!!! I think I can pick up a Durian or two, I will be coming from Southern California, where there are plenty!! Let me know!
Durian... yes please!
I want to join the Durian fest!!! :D)

No, it needs all three. Flavor and ratio, not just equal parts of every component.
