Hey folks,
I just found out officially that I am prego yesterday 08/05/2/08. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on cravings and how to stay raw throughout the pregnancy especially when dealing with "morning sickness" and the cravings. PLus I want to stay healthy along with having a healthy baby. Thanks.

Hi Ladies! My first pregancy was vegetarian, my second was with twins and about 90 + raw, sometimes 100%, but I decided that it was more important to listen to my body's cravings then be strict with my diet during my pregnancy. I also became a Raw Chef during that time. This helped with some creativity. My fav breakfast was a Maca shake, but I have to tell you that if you are not accustomed to maca - it may give you Braxton Hicks as it is a uterine stimulate. I'm conducting a bit of research right now about maca as a suppliment for pregnancy. I found that it dramaically improved my energy, moods and even controlled my cravings... although that could have been because I got my cocao fix first thing in the morning! (lol) honestly, this shake was a real lifesaver for me as I was alone all day with my VERY active 2 year old and still managed to work out every day too. So here's is my life saver...
WONDER - MAMMAS' MORNING MIX
2c. hemp milk
(1/4 c. hemp seeds, 1c. coconut water, 2TBLSP. agave)
4 lg. dates
1 tblsp. raw cocoa powder
1 tblsp. raw maca powder
1 tblsp. raw cocoa nibs
2c. ice (aprx. 9 cubes)
~ blend hemp milk and dates together first.
~ add in remaining ingredients
~ blend thick as you like
~ Sit back, put up your tired sore legs and enjoy -
THEN
TAKE ON THE WORLD!

~ If you are pregnant and try it will you let me know how you felt?

I am also happy to share my fav salty, crunchie, 'greasy' snack -
KRISPY KALE which we absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE here and go through about 10 -12 heads of kale / week just on this staple.
Krispy Kale
2 Tblsp. Bragg's Apple Cider Vineger
1c. raw olive oil
1c. lime juice
1c. Nama Shoyu
8 - 10 heads of kale
~ Blend Nama Shoyu and lime juice in blender. Switch to low and slowly add the olive oil until emulsified.
~ in your CLEAN sink, mix in Apple Cider Vineger with 1/2 a sink full of water.
~ soak and wash kale well in this before rinsing.
~ Rinse very well and then strip from vein.
~ put 1/2 marinade in large bin or bowl
~ add kale pieces
~ massage well to coat evenly
~ distribute on dehydrator trays, pile it high!
~ dehydrate at 350 for aprx. 6 hrs.
ENJOY!

Cheers,

Hi everyone!
We just found out today that I AM indeed pregnant! We didn't expect it, but are SO excited to bring our second child into the world, in the healthiest way possible! I calculated it and am estimating that I am 6 weeks pregnant (until I visit the OB and find out for sure). I want to try to do this raw, so hopefully we all can help eachother along! God bless to all of you expecting mothers ;)

What's up everyone!

We are a vegan family who moved from urban Los Angeles to the sticks of Michigan. We have a three year old daughter and are 10 weeks pregnant with our second child. We have an organic garden and belong to an organic (not certified) CSA. We had a midwife for our first birth and have a great midwife for our second birth.

I do 95% of the food preparing/cooking and since moving to rural Michigan it has been a challenge maintaining our dietary choice. We hardly and I mean hardly ever eat out and when we travel half of our bags are filled with food.

There are a couple of things that this community could help us with:

1. Any suggestions for books/websites related to raw/vegan pregnancy, tandem breastfeeding and raising raw/vegan children.
2. An internet source for raw organic nuts that don’t cost a bazillion dollars.
3. An internet source for organic baby clothes that don’t cost a bazillion dollars
4. Any general advice, recipes and fitness information that you found useful during your pregnancy.

Thanks for your helping us keep it raw in the country and hope to hear from everyone soon.

How long did 50lbs last you? A week? I would recommend that a person get some greens to go along with their bananas.. did you forage for any greens that week?

That is a good point Angus. I have found that a lot of fundamentalist religions accuse everyone else of worshiping the devil and it like a blind hysteria- like all these other people have a black bible in their house and secretely worship a statue...
