So, I was at the library today and found this book. It was the only book in the entire library system that came up on a keyword search for polyamory.

"Sex: Opposing Viewpoints" edited by Mary Williams

I found the "this view vs. that view" approach of the book really useful. Also, interestingly, the library staff said they usually keep books of this series in the juvenile section for kids doing research for school work.

I don't think I would have had the guts to cover this topic for a book report in junior high, but I sure found a couple liberal sections of the book enlightening. I'm familiar with the popular perspectives in society, I was raised in this society afterall.

4.5 "Multiple Relationships are a Legitimate Alternative to Monogamous Marriage" by Alicia Potter

Anyone else have some interesting or favorite resources out there?

I've been familiar with love languages for a while, but never really sat down and read the book. I always just tried to figure myself and others out by watching what they liked. Today I found this quiz that gets right to the answer. Definitely, every person should do this and share their results with every person they love, romantically or not.

I like to think that the difference between polyamory and swinging is that poly is about building relationships, swinging is just about having sex with more people. Relationships beyond "Friends that f**k" are usually not allowed for swingers and that's pretty much (Friends with benefits) where polyamory starts.

Hi everybody! Im fascinated by the whole concept of polyamory and would like to learn more. I think every connection is unique in its own right, and we are all polyamory to a certain degree. I suppose the part I have difficulty understanding is the comfort of polyamory within a serious relationship. I do understand this is result of social evolution and conditioning. Some species in the animal kingdom have multiple partners and some take on one lifelong mate. To each their own according to what they are comfortable with. I do not believe social law should govern something so personal as love. I do see jealousy as a hindering emotion both personally and socially. I dont think Im one for long term monogamy, but at the same time would like someone to share life with on a personal level. So Im in there somewhere, just not quite sure where.

I haven't really had a polyamorous sexual relationship, I wish I knew what to say Jennifer. I am obviously thinking about poly. Poly could be an answer to a lot of relationship problems for some people. It might be good for my life. That's sick that your ex was just hurting all those people and lying. I wish you healing. I wish them healing too.

I want to share that I am interested in opening of the heart. Getting "rid" of self limiting ideas, and ideals, and structures, and rules around relationships. Getting out of "fear" and bringing a sense of heart and self to relationships beyond the mental ideas of what they should be.
The heart has a way of opening us up an leading us beyond fear.
