My cats Snowy and Peanut r raw!! But they eat raw meat because cats r carnivores and need to. :D

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone in this group and say that I'm very happy to be here. Animals and animal welfare are my passions and my dog is my four-legged baby! I've attached his photo for you all to see -- isn't he adorable?! For seven years I've been volunteering my publicity services to the local no-kill animal shelter where I adopted Chase. Since he came to me from the shelter he had his share of physical ailments, such as a ton of allergies and also colitis. He's been raw (raw carnivore) for about five years now, and it has created such vibrant health within him. The only vaccine I give him is rabies (because I have to) and I treat him homeopathically, such as for a minor UTI he recently had. Cranberry capsules and herbs cured him completely! Chase has even inspired me to start a web site devoted to dog adoption and holistic dog care, titled The Happy Dog Spot, www.the-happy-dog-spot.com. I've only recently started it, but my goal is for it to become a great resource for anyone who wants to have a healthy, happy dog -- naturally. Once again, I'm glad to be here with like-minded raw food animal lovers!

Yay a raw doggy site.
My beautiful west highland terrier Harry has been raw for about 18 months, and is doing really well. He has poor skin which became badly infected about 18mths ago, every second weekend we were going to the vet. He was on steroids, three different antibiotics (not all at once). Plus medicated washes. However His skin remained poor. He had to wear an elizabeth collar because of the continuos scratching. Basically it was a horribly time for him and me. I was recommended a homeopath that specialized in dogs. She worked wonders!!!!! After doing quite some research on the net I decided to move Harry from the medicated dog food onto a raw diet. Which he LOVES. The food is much tastier for him way better then boring old dry biscuits. I combine flaxseed oil, kelp and dried alfalfa into most of his meals. He also takes a homeopathic mixture. His journey to raw food let me on my journey. I was already moving towards being vegan, but after researching so much information for Harry I also found a lot of information for myself. So pleased to find other like minded dog owners. Even though i got Harry from a breeder 7 yrs ago I now realise how i would never again purchase a puppy from a breeder. There are so many adult dogs needing to be re-homed. Recently I have joined a Westie rescue group which re-homed four westies last year 2008. Four westies is a large number considering New Zealands small population.

Does anyone have their pet on the BARF diet? Which consists of primarily raw meat I believe.
