"Rawbin"- ha ha! I thought it was odd that they used Chicago as Gotham City- it's just a little too clean and pretty. And recognizable, if you've ever been there. But maybe it was supposed to be Gotham before it got really bad and grimey. I though Heath Ledger was absolutely amazing!
Did you catch the little cameo in the Batman wannabe's scene (in the parking garage)- someone from the last movie was one of the Batman imposters.
I liked that little touch.
Erin,
I completely agree with you about Heath Ledger; it was had to feel that pang of nostalgia for the guy because I wasn't watching Heath, I was watching the joker. As much as I like Jack Nicholas Heath was the Best joker ever!!! Never been to Chi-town but I really liked this movie...I am going back to see it his weekend.

peanut, I saw it for the second time this weekend. Only this time I saw it in IMAX. post humous Oscar indeed. True about the coffee...he also threw away the glass of champagne that he picked up for show at the Harvey Dent party. The movie was deep and despite the darkness of it all, blurred the lines between good and evil better than any previous Batman movie. Action was awesome, Joker's dialogue even better!!!
Blasphemy!
This is the best movie I've seen in years.
Also, give Mr. Wayne bonus points for tossing the champagne off the balcony during Harvey Dent's Fundraising Party. So, he didn't consume anything unraw in the movie, either.
Also, his breakfasts that Alfred delivered appeared to be fresh orange juice, berries, and raisin bran. Sans the raisin bran... not too bad. :)
I don't get why everyone is sweating this movie. Yeah, it was very good, but I'd hardly call it best movie I've seen in years. Heck, I wouldn't even call it the best superhero movie. I'm so tired of all those herky-jerky, rapid-cut fight scenes where you don't get a good sense of what's going on. And there was too much of that clever tech stuff, like with the sonar lens.
I like Bale as Bruce Wayne, but as the Batman? Meh. He growls too much. And while I thought Heath Ledger was good, at times I felt like he was doing a combination of Hannibal Lecter meets Stuart Smalley.
I also didn't care much for the end battles. Batman spent more time fighting cops and dogs than he did the actual villians in the movie.
I'd go into more of what I didn't like in the film, but I don't wanna spoil it for people. I'm not saying it was a bad film -- I did really like it -- but it wasn't all that and a bag of (raw) chips.

bite your tongue!!!
Although I agree that I wouldn't call it the best movie ever but maybe the best batman movie ever. The action was nice but for me it took a back seat to the main points the movie was trying to drive home about the batman character. i think it really achieved what the dark knight series set out to communicate. Batman is a bit psychotic, an angle the other movies never really took on him. He is impartial justice/order, which he proved by letting his life's love die for harvey dent, and the Joker is anarchy. They are yin and yang. Batman is not 100% right and the Joker isn't 100% wrong; he did give the b-man a choice. Batman is singleminded and pessimistic for the most part. Harvey "two face the white knight" Dent was loosely hinged. And the joker was more clever and realistically portrayed than in movies past. It wasn't the traditional brand of Batman but that's why it rocked.

It was also kinda cool that he was an outcast who had to fight both the "good" guys and the bad guys. It makes what he does more heroic in my opinion. Just a thought:)
I really enjoyed the first part of the film. The joker beyond lived up to the hype imo. The bank scene was awesome!!
I loved how he would tell a different story about how he got his scars and his monologue to the new villain(trying not to give anything away) gave a good perspective on his character.
Although I enjoyed many scenes of this movie I thought Batman Begins was a better complete film, even though I couldn't stand Katie Holmes.
I thought the ending dragged on a bit too long and kind of lost focus.
Overall, go see this film. It is one of the best of the summer.
P.S. I am very excited for Watchmen...that looked awesome.

yeah that is all fair to know, even though there's quite alot of attempts at personal attacks and discrediting people in these matters rather than just deliver straight answers to the questions.
