I'm going to Melbourne for a week next month. Where are some good places to eat within or near the CBD? It doesn't necessarily have to be 'raw', just 'healthy'. I don't think we actually have any 'raw' restaurants in Australia.
Actually we do. In Port Melbourne there is a place called Le Cru and it is a raw food resturant. I have not been there myself but it serves gourmet raw dishes. My understanding is that it is expensive and have heard mixed reviews. Nonetheless it is RAW.
The Organic Food and Wine Deli in Degraves St in the CBD has organic vegan/veg food that's pretty nice, and the salad they serve up with things is big and really quite yummy. They also sell date and coconut rolls, which I think are raw (certainly tasty!)
Hi Ali,
I have just started working as the Grocery Manager at a very raw friendly organic grocery store and cafe - We stock Gemma's 'Naked' range of raw desserts and lots of Loving Earth raw goodies - plus the original raw foods: the fruit and veg! ;-) I am steadily building up the raw range here and have already introduced Suki from QLD's 'Rawganic' chocolate range before my first week is out! Come say hi to me anytime on my shifts which are 12 noon - 7pm Mon-Thurs and 12noon - 6pm Friday. It's open Sat/Sun too but I wont be here.
Look forward to meeting you guys!
xoxo
Hi Lucy!
Would love to taste Gemma's 'Naked' range of raw desserts. Where is it exactly that you work? I would love to come and have a visit some time.

Hey,
Lentil As Anything does a pretty much raw and yummy cabbage salad - just ask them to leave out the tofu.
Also the latest newsflash is that this amazing raw-friendly chef Mark has just been promoted to head chef of Soulmama restaurant in St Kilda (Jacka Bvd, inside the St Kilda Sea Baths complex). Ring ahead and let him know you'd like a raw meal made up and he'll most likely oblige if he's not too busy. He is quite the culinary artist.
xx
I'll have to give that a try, went out yesterday and couldn't get any decent raw salads. Everything was drowned in mayo, croutons, bacon bits etc. I ended up ordering a baby spinach salad that had small cooked beetroot and almonds on it. I just asked to omit the chicken. It was nice but not completely raw.
