Hi, I am mexican and I live in Monterrey in the north of Mexico! I have been raw for over a year and just finished a 92 day juice feast. I love that there is a Raw Hispanics group here!!!!

Hey RawZi,

Congrí is rice and peas in Cubano (hahaha. That's what they call it in Cuba). I'm not sure how to make a raw version. I doubt sprouted black beans and white rice (is it possible to sprout it?) would be tasty. I'm still figuring it out. Tamales de piña? My goodness, please send the recipe.

No soy hispana, pero mi novio es. Vamos a viajar a Peru muy pronto, por un mes, y estoy planeando a comer toda la fruta que tienen. Estoy emocionada~

At the Tree of Life, someone made up tamales with no corn (since they don't use it there--too mycotoxic or some such thing)! I don't know what they were made of, sadly. But there were tortillas made out of dehydrated greens like spinach and sorrel. Yum!

Nací en Santo Domingo, Repub;ca DOminicana o como yo prefiero decir Kiskeya, lluege a Nueva York con mi famila a los tres años. Soy muy orguyoso de mi cultura Taina y mi cultura Africana. Yo se que nuestra gente son uno de los que comen peor en el mundo entero, sin necesida porque viven donde esta la comida mejor. Un deseo mió es regar la informacion de lo daño de la dieta que tienen y los beneficios de comer comida cruda y vegana.

I've had sprouted wild rice. I even make it sometimes but wild rice is technically not a grain but a type of grass. I don't know if it would work with congrí. My husband (who is vegetarian and Cuban) said wild rice would not work. I'm up for the challenge. I'll figure it out.
