I am wondering what is the best way to put on or keep on weight on a raw food diet. Prior to going raw about 3 - 4 weeks ago, I was at an average weight for my height (5' 7", 140 ilbs). Of course, eating raw, weight drops. I think this is great for people who are overweight and want to lose the extra pounds. I've seen the beautiful transformations of those who have.
For myself, although I didn't 'need' to lose weight (and now my clothes are hanging on me a bit), I do feel lighter and sleeker. It feels good. However, I am very recently experiencing feelings of doubt as a spin off to the weight loss. Even though it isn't extreme (but is noticeable), a few people have said: "You've lost weight ..." but there is sometimes a question or concern attached to that comment. (e.g. "Are you getting enough nutrition? Are you going to make yourself sick? etc.) Yesterday was the first time the 'you've lost weight' comment (the ultra-concerned-bordering-on-worried way in which it was said) made me doubt myself and the raw food diet. I began to wonder if I would continue to lose more weight and 'become sick' (as one person suggested) and if I really am getting enough of the nutrition needed. I being to wonder if I would have to eat cooked foods in order to keep some weight on me and 'be healthy' ... but the thought of doing that didn't appeal. Of course I know it is possible to be 100% raw and look and be healthy. After all, that's what it's all about and many people do it. Rather than run to cooked foods as a 'solution', I want to learn and understand how to keep eating raw and have the right fat and protein in my diet. I looked it up online but the main advice I'm getting is to eat nuts and avocados. But how many nuts and avocados can I eat?
Has anyone else experienced anything similar? What have you found works for you?
Thanks.
E.
