Oh one of the things I have been making recently is a raw curry soup. Which basically consists of blended cauliflower, dried coconut, cashews, soaked sundried tomatoes, water, cumin, ginger, cayenne, cinnamon, tumeric, himalayan salt, onion and garlic. Then I like to warm it a little bit and have it with some flax crackers.
Kelly .. this sounds delicious!! Are you able to provide approx. amounts? as I would love to give it a go (feeling a little chilly in the evenings lately :-)
I think it would approximately these amounts... I'm not much of a measurer!
1 cup chopped cauliflower
1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup dessicated coconut
1/2 cup soaked sundried tomatoes
1 small onion
1 clove garlic
2 cups water
2cm bit of ginger
2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cayenne
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp tumeric
1/2 tsp salt
Blend it all up and gently warm in a pot, stirring constantly, just warm enough so it's not a chilly chilli.
Play around with the spices until it tastes how you like it. You could add in any other indian spices, like coriander or cardamom too.
Another smoother variation could be to first do the coconut as you would a nut milk. I'd use about 1 cup of coconut for that.
this sounds fabulous! the spices esp. cayenne + cinnamon combined with fresh ginger + garlic sound savory + healing! thanks for sharing.......anything with coconut sounds great too ;-P
Here is one of my recipes that satisfies me greatly when I need a little warming up.
Thai Coconut-Curry Soup
3 cups water, carrot juice or coconut water
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup nama shoyu or 1 tsp sea salt
2 T agave or 2 large dates
2 T ginger, peeled
2 T coconut butter
1 T curry powder
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add avocado slices and garnish with chopped scallions or chives. For added heat add one small chili pepper , more ginger or some cayenne to taste.
Nay of the winter spices tend to work great for warming you up when it's cold. Cinnamon too since you'll automtically connect it with being warm when it's cold
Here's my fav cold weather breakie:
Banana boats on FIRE!
2 leaves romaine w/ stem sliced so the leaf lays flat
1 or 2 sm bananas
a few tbsp. almond butter
dash of cayane powder
~ put the peeled banana on the romaine leaf
~ spread almond butter on banana, I make my own with tamari almonds so it's a little salty sweet!
~ Dash on cayane pepper (woo - this makes the difference, believe me!)
~ roll up and dash out the door!

lol yes in many cases.
Eating raw fruits and vegetables doesn't make someone more spiritual. If that were case, we could just eat our way to enlightenment. Many animals eat raw fruits and vegetables and still live at a gross level of ignorance an...
