Give it to me Raw

Hey folks,

today Ive had an experience: Ive been to the bus station and it came to a talk with an elderly man and he told me about his illnesses. Ive been listening and I was kind to him. In the bus I sat adverse an elderly woman and she started to talk. The same: illness.
But when I dropped off I thought, should you have told them something about raw food? Or just recommending a fruit breakfast? Why didnt you? And maybe you shaould have given them your business card? Okay until now I dont have some for raw food coaching but I could have given them another one with my contacts.
And Im thinking about this all the time. I mean, I have do be more offensive and here I had two chances right in front of me.

Im not in a hurry with my raw food business because im in an internship until march. But this would have brought me a step closer.

So what I want to know now is, how do you promote your business? Your doing it in "real" life as well or more online? And maybe, what would you have done in this situation today?
Thanks already! :)

wow...what good timing for me to read this. I am right on the brink of fully going for it and announcing my coaching services to the public, but something is holding me back. Meanwhile, so many of my casual conversations end up inspiring me to talk a blue streak about the raw diet and what it's done for me. I will talk about it with anyone who will listen. I started a blog so i would have a place to share my experiences and tips of going/staying raw, in part because i want people to be able to access that information at will rather than feel like i'm shoving it down their throats. So i understand your dilemma, Judith. We have the sincere desire to help but are not fully confident about how much is appropriate to reach out and offer advice. I know that i could be bringing in a portion of my monthly income by charging a fee for the information i give out freely on a daily basis but i have held back because i don't feel organized enough to appear professional.

My blog is here: http://rawgypsyspirit.blogspot.com/
if that would provide any inspiration for you to get started. I figured i had to start somewhere, and since i write so much all the time anyway, i wanted a place for my words to land and be accessible to others. I have proposed a regular column to examiner.com which has a few raw food examiners in other cities, and i'm waiting to hear back from them. I do feel that offering information online is one of the keys to building credibility and attracting clients. I am hoping that it will also help me to build up a reputation that will facilitate the publishing of a book and traveling to speak in other places.

So basically, i'm approaching this in stages, and it was recently suggested to me that i take some time to sit down and mind map the process of developing my business according to the way i naturally flow and unfold. When you integrate your life in this way, nothing seems like work anymore. The difficult part of that beautiful process is figuring out how to get paid for doing what you love. When i figure that out, i'll write about it and let you know.

Hi Jodi,

me either Im not in a hurry Id more like to do it step by step. I have a blog too because Im a passionate writer and raw food is a passion as well. You can see it here http://vegan2raw.wordpress.com/
but maybe you saw my comment on yours already :)

Yes and you metioned it, the point is not to convice people. Id like to work with people who need some help to get started and this stuff. And thats why Im in a next dilemma. In my internship I have to do a presentation about a topic of my choice. And you guess it - Id love to speak about raw food, I could speak a whole day and more about it although Im not so good in speaking in front of people (more than 2 :) ) . But because I really love it, I could. But the fact is, in the last weeks Ive often been attacted by those people because of my eating habits. They wont change my mind but anyhow it hurted sometimes. And thats why Im hesitating about choosing raw food as a topic. On the other side Id like to know if I could speak infront of people about raw food, sharing my passion. But until now it feels as if it makes a huge difference if people come to you because they want to or not. And Im really sick of derisiving comments about my eating habits.

Id really like to know what you think because I have to decide soon to prepare and Im still unsure bout it.

Lots of sunday love!

Judy
