Share with me what you ate on yesterdays workout...
I woke up and had 10mangosteens, then cycled 20km easy followed by 5km uphill (2600feet).
after finished I ate:
3 mangos
one hour later I ate:
5 durian (4lbs of durian flesh=2800 calories)

Yesterday was 8 bananas blended with 3 dates then a VERY fast and hard 4 hour bike training ride with some cat 1/2 riders. During the ride about 1.5 hours into it I consumed 6 dates. An hour after that was 2 dates. Once home I Drank water slowly for about 20 mins then consumed 1/2 of the largest watermelon I've ever bought. I felt stuff but it clearly wasn't enough carbs and cals because half hour later after the watermelon digested I was digging into the banana box. 10 ripe bananas did the trick. 3 hours later I ate a small salad of mixed local baby greens and about 5 sticks of chopped celery and 2 tomatoes. I should have had a bigger salad but was to burned out from the ride to eat much more after that. It was water for the rest of the evening then off to bed.

Total calorie estimation 3200. Not enough considering bmr of about 2000(likely more) and that I burned 3600 on the ride.

I will lose a bit of weight which is okay. This morning I've been loading up on carbs and about to go for a two hour ride alone. I should have enough energy to really pack in the calories after to make up for yesterday's huge deficit.

No problems with fiber content? The hardest part for athletes is getting the low glycemic high amount of calories without the fiber. I think thats why so many people resort to the powders with ose sugars and maltodextrin.

Hey, can anyone help me with how to get started in the professional cycling and/or mountain biking game?

Hello!!! I'm stoked about this site! I've a fairly new runner. Been vegetarian, well vegan mostly...and running for about a year and a half now. Trying to figure out how to do it right. I seem to not eat enough or get stuck in a rut of easy, not nutritious foods like vegan cheese and rice cakes.. :( Looking for good ways to stay HEALTHY, fast and lean as an athlete.
Looking forward to being a part of the group!

Hello Miss Frijole(I love my frijole's by the way)Welcome!!

Have you tried green smoothies's before your workout? For me (I'm training for the half marathon) I have to have energy before I hit the track otherwise my body will not respond very well.

I drink a green smoothie in the morning and sometimes I'll have a fruit smoothie in the afternoon, around 3-4pm.
I also take dates and celery for energy during my run.

hope this helps some, if you want smoothie recipes I have a few.

Hi, I love to sprint, and I actually won second place in the women's 40 yard dash at raw games this year, as well as second place in the women's hippy-bus-pull !! It was really super fun running like this. I haven't been officially training though I am wanting to do so now because it is so much fun! Much love! Laura

So a bit of an athlete here, and a bit of a raw foodie. I've been reading a lot of posts from raw athletes of various sports, and I keep hearing about bananas. Unfortunately, they dont sit very well with me. I can see me eating maybe one, not 5 or 10. Things in general dont 'go through' me very easily, and bananas are particularly slow. I'm a runner, training for my 3rd ever 1/2 marathon, and am looking for pre-run power foods, aside from smoothies. Last year I ended up using a packaged raw spirulina bar. It was ok, but not optimum. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks!
