Thanks for the recommendations! In my mind I had imagined something more complicated but then again thats the great thing about eating raw. It's so much easier.
I always have a fruit and protein smoothie post workout, and following the advice of some of the members of this website use hemp protein in the smoothie.
I usually have something like:
3 apples
1 pear
1 banana
handful of strawberries
handful of raspberries
small handful of blueberries
2 scoops of hemp protein
1 scoop of maca (optional)
1 scoop of bee pollen (optional)
1 scoop glutamine (optional)
I think that a post workout meal/drink is the most important part of an exercise program as the body is is pretty fatigued after working hard and it needs some nutrition to start repairing/adapting after the exercise.
I'm with Andrew on the importance of post-workout refueling and the use of hemp protein. Also, just something I've been thinking recently although I've read nothing to support this: the body's levels of GH (growth hormone) are naturally highest during sleep, so this is when the majority of actual muscle production occurs (that's why body builders sleep so much). So I've been thinking, on workout days, in addition to a post-workout smoothie, it might be a good idea to down another at night before going to sleep (maybe just rice protein without the fruit as the sugar might keep me awake). I'm going to give it a shot and let you know of the results.
You know what, lately I'm usually more hungry at night and find that my metabolism has increased since doing this. I think it does have something to do with muscle building when you sleep. So I think it would be a great idea to consume a shake before going to bed.
That sounds like fun.. There is a thing called double dutch where two girls hold two ropes and you have to jump them both at the same time.. maybe you could find a couple of girls to try this with you. It's pretty impressive when you see it..
