Raw in shell maca's I don't find addictive at all I'd even go as far to say I don't like them that much. I prefer not to eat them & suffer that fat foggy feeling afterwards, the fact I can't make a satisfying mono meal out of them either isn't appealing :-(

Still trying to get completely nut free. I know I feel better when I am. My husband went raw recently and really got into nuts and I went right along with him. We were making huge nut pates and eating maybe a cup or two a day!!!!!! We both realized how bad that was and now for 2 weeks have been nut free. What a difference. I love the idea of getting support from this group. Thanks for starting it Freelea.

I have been raw for six years and experimented alot with it. At first i ate alot of nuts then cut down on them every year, more and more. I noticed that when making nut butters i got full from alot less of them. So I only ate them in that form. Then I only ate them at particular times throughout the year and not on a daily basis, mostly when avocados were not available. I don't miss them at all, i could only eat them with dates or bananas anyway, or maybe sprinkled on salads. But I don't think i'll have them again for years, maybe for good. I feel better without them and im satisfied with avocados and maybe young coconuts (once in a blue moon) for fats. I never liked seeds either, dont find them particularly digestive or satisfying.

Hey Lynn, its great to have you here! Thanks for sharing your nutty experience :-) Yeah Its so easy to get out of control with nuts and they really affect nutrient absorbtion as well, leaving us feeling full but not satisfied. I haven't had any overt fats for almost a month and I feel great, Im not opposed to avos but I will only eat them if Im in the area they are grown...overt fat free for a month or 2 is awesome! Usually I eat more like 90-5-5 then 80-10-10, find I feel best eating this way.

Hey Johnny, wow raw for 6years?! That's fantastic :-) I too slowly eliminated them from my diet, the benefits just keep on coming, I can't forsee myself eating them again either.

Hey guys! I have again returned to an 811 version of raw, and it is incredible how amazing I feel. About 1.5 years ago I was living in Sri Lanka for a period of three months and ate mostly fruit and very little fat and that was unreal. I felt so balanced on EVERY level: physical, emotiotnal, and spiritual. Even though I wasn't eating a lot of calories, I had more space in my body/life to actually FEEL. This experience has so much more value than having any nut-heavy meal, raw pizzas, raw junkfood, etc. To feel amazing all the time or to search endlessly through the kitchen for food that I think will give me that feeling is a no-brainer. The answers are so simple, and the gifts are endless.

I am a spurt type when it comes to nuts. My desire to eat them comes in spurts. I only eat the ones I gather myself from the trees, but even those have an ill effect on my digestion when I consume too many. I must admit however, that if I limit myself to about three walnuts or hickory nuts, when the urge for that 'something more' creeps up, it does satisfy me. Plus, I also have to admit, I do love smashing that hard walnut shell!

Hi, all. I'm new to raw and even though I've heard that people tend to use nuts as "transition foods" I'm not going that route. I came to raw after 9 months on a low-fat (cooked) vegan diet to heal my type 2 diabetes. I felt like the diet was helping me a lot but it just wasn't taking me where I wanted to go so I finally decided to take the plunge to raw. I started with Dr. Cousen's book about diabetes, but it was too high fat for me (when my fat gets above 20g/day, my blood sugar starts creeping up and will stay up for as much as three days after eating too much fat) so I was starving and couldn't stick with it. Then I found Dr. Graham and 811 and as soon as I tried eating that way I could see it was the perfect diet for me. I'm off my metformin (diabetes pill) and looking forward to my next a1c (long-term blood sugar test) to see how I'm doing.

I became totally convinced before going raw that high fat foods do not agree with my metabolism at all, so I'm a no-nuts kinda girl. I've been eating a little avocado, but I'm working on cutting that out. Trying to find a low-fat raw salad dressing I can be happy with since I'm not ready for dressing-less salad yet.

Thanks for this group. Great thinking to start it!

Welcome everyone! Its great to see others who are 'no nuts about it' :-D
Sparrowrose I am really happy for you finding Dr D so early in your journey, mine was sortof similar but I spent about a year 'mucking' around with consuming rancid nuts and ofcourse paying the price.
Some dressings that are lovely.....

- Black russian tomatoes blended with org celery and a little basil
- Rich ripe orange blended with date
- Dill, tomato and red peppers
- Mango, cilantro and celery
- Just orange juice
- Beet, orange and coriander (maybe!)

Haha! Probably Charles! I actually bought this dress at the spirit fest because it was on sale and made from 100% organic hemp. The rest of the clothes I brought were pretty grubby. :)
