Give it to me Raw

Hi guys, do any of you find it a bit of an effort to find some of the products that people talk about on the US sites? If you find any good resources we should list them here.

I'm gonna start with young coconuts. I asked my local fruit shop about stocking them and he got some in! $5.90 from the Aro Fruit Supply on Aro St in Wellington.

I also buy things like cacao and maca from www.purewellbeing.com

Hi Kelly .. thanks for starting this discussion. It will be so helpful to everyone here.

I too, purchase products from Michael Hayman at Pure Wellbeing. He also supplies a few of his products to Commonsense Organics in Wellington and The Organic Grocer (www.theorganicgrocer.co.nz).

You can also purchase young drinking coconuts from www.vitalessence.co.nz. They are based in Auckland and get a new shipment in every few months. If you register with them they will send you an email when they have a supply and it is first in first served (they go pretty quick). I am, however, very exicted that you have found a local source .. awesome !!

If I think of anything else I will post again. I look forward to us all sharing our resources!!!

Luv Chris

I did manage to find some untoasted nori at commonsense in wellington. I don't think it specifically said raw on it though.

Maybe not in New Zealand but there is another online shop in Australia their freight is not too bad either. They also stock raw nori which I find impossible to find here.

oh cool. Do they have a website Eve?
Also have you come across any dramas with bringing RAW foods into the country?
Thanks much

Just sharing another great resource. About 18 months ago I was blessed to meet Mayatiita of Prana Sprouts. Since then he has been supplying me with organic wheatgrass (to my door) weekly, and now grows living salads and sprouts as well. He is truly passionate about living foods/horticulture and puts a lot of love into everything he grows. Currently he doesn't have a website, but If you are in the greater Wellington area and wish to have your own supply of fresh organic wheatgrass, etc delivered you can contact him at pranasprouts@clear.net.nz

Would I ever. I just bought a dehydrator though, so I'll have to save up for a wheatgrass juicer before I can contemplate a visit from Mayatiita.

I keep telling him he should get a website ... maybe he would be up for a trade???

I am jealous!! gives me an idea tho to find out who supplies the wheatgrass to the ReLoad juice and salad bars here in chch .... they seem to be the only ones offering fresh wheatgrass now. NZ Natural used to do it, but they have stopped, apparently due to the quality of the wheatgrass ...

Here in Chch i get quite a bit from Pikos Wholefoods - lots of organic, and the whole range of foods. am planning a big order to Pure Wellbeing very soon ... and i also use Healthpost for some items. Have been getting my maca from them, but Pure Wellbeing has maca cheaper. Healthpost also have organic powdered barleygrass, MSM and a wide range of supplements etc. they turn around email orders through their website, usually within a day or two, for just $3 shipping/courier. www.healthpost.co.nz

Wow, that is great news about the coconuts. I wonder if I can get someone to do that in New Plymouth. Are they heat treated or irradiated when they come into NZ? It seems that MAF is very keen on heat treating many foods.

I just found Larabars for sale at the Health 2000 shop in the Guthrey Centre in Christchurch. They are raw fruit and nut bars in various flavours.

I love apples. I've been getting some really good heirloom varieties from a local grower like winesap. New England is apple land :) .
