Sometimes I can go really well without eating just when my belly does the grumble/bubbling thing and I actually will let myself experience true hunger.
Other times as soon as or even before I feel that I think I'm "hungry", or I'll go eat after a while of feeling like I can't take it anymore.
I've only been aware of this concept for a few weeks so any stories or tips would be greatly appreciated... what are your guy's experience with honoring true hunger?
Yeah this is a good topic and one that I'm currently trying to grasp right now. I try to do the same as you mentioned above. This is my usual thought process:
1) Wait for the signs. When I know I'm going to get hungry, my body will start breaking down "whatever" is in my intestine and begin releasing gas. This only happens though when I eat a big meal prior to these syptoms. I'm assuming it's because it didn't finish using it all up.
2) Next I'll feel a rush of energy and I'll get a little jittery. Also my muscles will begin to twitch (If I have been working out).
3) My limbs will begin to weaken.
*Remember these are all precursors of my perception of THE true hunger*
After these things happen, I wait for the empty feeling in my stomach. When I start experiencing that I eat. Another thing that sometimes happen is that I'll begin to savor and salivate over a food. It doesn't happen often as I don't allow myself to get that far into the process, but it happens.
I'm fairly knew at trying to evaluate my symptoms of hunger so I'm still learning. What are your experiences like?
I want to wait until true hunger just one time....please grant me the power to wait at least one time to experience this!!! I am in a habbit of eating well before this. I love this topic!! I will succeed!
I am reading all the Nora posts and loving them.
When we do master waiting for true hunger to eat, how much do we eat at this time? It may be challenging to stop eating until very full then? Is that a bad thing?
I think my lifestyle does afford me the chance to experience this on small levels... I think just being aware of the possibilty once a week is how I'm going to challenge myself... on Tuesdays from now on! I'm eager to experiment. I'm fasting weekly now too!
I see him stuck, and not doing anything about it he hasn't tried. In that I mean dropping the processed crap, being positive, and trying some fruit and exercise instead of binge drinking on the weekend or sleeping when hes not working. He has VITI...
I made this back in February and yes it's all raw. It's dehydrated sprouted crackers from Rainbow, with cashew cheese, tomatoes, pesto, avocado and arugula.
I would ask him if he is interested in making a dietary change and if he shows interest then that's great! If not, be a shining example of health and hopefully one day he will come around. He has to do it when he is ready otherwise he will feel it...
