Has anyone done a colon cleanse before? I keep hearing about the benefits.
How much does it cost (on average)
How often (realistically) should I get it done?
What was the experience like while getting it done?
What effects/benefits have you noticed after getting one?
Mine were $45 per session in Tulsa...$55 if you pay for one at a time. (I got 5 at once). I have to drive an hour to get there, so fuel is an issue also.
A couple of times a week is what my therapist recommended for ME...EVERYONE is different. Depends on the condition of your colon
I dont know that I have known any HUGE changes. I think what I eat (raw) & drink (enough water) and how much rest (8-10hours divided) & exercise (Im horrible about this) I get has made a LOT more difference a lot quicker.
One thing that was remarkable was the abdominal massage she always did. I told my husband, I always felt like Id had a huge workout by the time she was done (40 min sessions). I felt almost over-kneaded like a loaf of bread dough - lol. I have a big belly.
Biggest notable change for me came when she told me to go out and get a little footstool to put my feet on when sitting on the potty. How you sit when you void really makes a difference. I dont even go pee without that stool now days.
I have one more session (mine were a gift) and then will probably go on to other therapies personally. Master Cleanse being my primary (most effective) favorite. The saltwater flush does a very similar job to the colonic....I will add the belly massage to my routine (with my YLEO DiGize essential oil) next time.
Panda~ I am experiencing some eliminatation problems, because of what I beleive is, that I'm in mourning. I'm making sure that I'm hydrating and I do the salt water flush, which helps me tremendously! This solution requires 2 tsp's of salt...I use sea salt, in a quart of tempid water..
Hope these suggestions help you! ;)

I just had my first colonic this past Monday. I live in NYC and it was $95. The colon hydrotherapist will let you know how frequent you should come. I have been 100% raw for 3 months now and have been on a juice feast for almost 30 days so she told me to come in every 2-3 weeks for a series of 4-5 colonics.
I, too, had the abdominal massage and was told to use a foot stool. One of the things she did tell me was that I should not combine carrots or beets with lemons because they cause gas ---which I guess she was able to see. LOL
Anyway, I think the more colonics I have, the more I will be able to assess their benefits. So far, I haven't noticed any big change so far other than feeling lighter.
Yes, it does have everything to do with aligning the body and not restricting the colon. This picture is off the net and I only have one stool, but it looks just like this one. Therapist says to sit on the potty with feet on this stool and lean sort of back (or at the very least sit up straight) rather than leaning forward to strain. She also recommends abdominal massage while your "relaxing". Next to adequate hydration, this is a wonder worker for me. Funny, I have many friends that have these in their bathrooms and I always thought they were for the younger children to use to see in the mirror to brush their teeth. Found out after I got mine that this is the purpose and also that they work great for we larger ladies to sit on in the tub to shave legs ( I lay a hand towel on it before sitting).
Hi, I am a I-act certified colon hydrotherapist running a cleanse retreat in Hawaii.
Here a single colonic runs $65 and a package of 3 is $150. If you are new to raw, or doing a juice cleanse the benefits of a colonic or a series are great. Anytime you feel the affects of detoxing (headaches, flu like symptoms, skin breakouts) may be a good time for a colonic. When our clients are here cleansing, they get a colonic every day for 10 days straight. There are two methods of colon hydrotherapy in the US. Gravity/open vs. Pressure/closed system, is just like it sounds, one the water is under some pressure, the other the water just flows naturally as your body needs. Both are accepted standards, gravity is a more natural experience. A colema board is a great “home use” alternative to a visit to the Colon Hydrotherapist, and over time will save you money. It sits on your toilet and you use it in the privacy of your home. I see the benefits every day from simple things like removal of parasites, mucous, blockages and very old debris, to increased blood flow, clearer thinking and general well being. I would be happy to answer any additional questions if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks for posting! I went to the dentist today and was absolutely delighted when I heard the dentist comment to the hygenist, "she has beautiful teeth, doesn't she?"
WOW! Coooool! Haha, all thanks to raw food!!!
Yeah! I have been getting into apples big time, and discovering new ones that I have not tried before like the Honey Crisps! I always like the Gala too great for raw recipes!
Thank you for your positive words everyone. I've been raw for 8 months and it was simply dissappointing to have gone through such a binge! Besides I felt physically awful!
Onward we march from here! lol
