Give it to me Raw

Welcome!

Finally! A place for serious raw foodists to talk and get answers from others just like themselves who have been eating raw for years, have been through the common pitfalls, and just want to talk to someone else who's been through it too. No more weeding through the newbie Q & A's. Time to get down to the dirt.

it is difficult to respond to people who feel the need to "attack" the lifestyle choices of others. bottom line for me is if you feel great, then there's no real need to do anything different. different people respond differently on raw food, obviously, so just keep that in mind and remember the only thing you need to do is to focus on yourself and your path. the rest will unfold as it needs to. good luck and thanks for joining!

Sounds very common actually, especially the desire to let go of nuts and seeds. Gourmet meals never appealed to me mainly due to the time and effort into putting them together. Mono is simpler and easier on digestion I feel also.

Was just passing and spotted this, could'nt help dropping in, only way to comment really, can't promise i'll stop. Must say i agree with the previous sentiments, it's a pain copping with newbies all the time, i want to move on, don't you, lifes passing by whilst we struggle with endless repetative questions, there should be nursery classes for learners, don't you think, its the only way. Sorry about that, had to get it off my chest, there's a lot more i want to say, but felt i might upset the applecart in other forums. One of my biggest gripes is the assumption we must all learn to uncook, i've always hated cooking, i was'nt even concious of eating raw in the 80's, i ate chopped mixed salad on pitta bread every day, lt was so simple, i loved it, still do, minus pitta bread. Well, there you have it, it's the simply life for me, you can stick your dehydrators and wotnot, give me my chopping board and knife, thats all i ask. Yes, i feel better now.

I hear ya and understand getting things off your chest. I feel the raw food community has turned into nothing but smoothies, superfoods, and all these multiple recipes duplicating SAD dishes. It's too bad it has gotten so off track in this way. Sometimes I still wonder if anyone even knows what a mono meal actually is. People eat 3-5 different pieces of fruit or veggies without blending or dehydrating and think they are eating simply . You got it, a chopping board and knife is plenty. Ahhh, I feel better now to :O)

A lot of people aren't eating raw nuts either (especially in America, I believe). Don't forget that many undergo heat treatment to get them out of their shells. I only eat real raw nuts (I go without if I'm not sure) and always soak/blend them. Haven't eaten whole unsoaked nuts in years - and have no desire to!!

Sounds a perfectly natural progression. I, too, did this but after being raw for about 3 years - I'd not varied my diet enough to start with and had some problems so had had to introduce more foods. Then I went back to really simple eating. I believe it's related to where you are in detoxing, sometimes your body is busy and doesn't want much food. If you're like me, you will start to gravitate towards more foods again after a while.
I only got a Vita-mix last year so up until then had eaten pretty simply anyway but I do believe that blending/juicing can be really helpful in getting minerals into your system quickly and easily. Depends on your activity levels too. If I'm not exercising much then I tend to mono eat. When I'm exercising a lot I like to up the greens and get creative!! I love the endless possibilities and combinations with raw food.

Once you already have a cold, the best way to deal with it is to eat as little as possible and get as much rest and sleep as you can.

The best way to prevent a cold are to eat foods that are minimally toxic. That means eating mostly fruits and vegetables. Organic if possible. Raw. Fresh. What also helps is getting plenty of rest and sleep. As much as you need. And then all the...

I believe that the natural state of the body is health, and that it is always trying to get 'there'. This thread makes me think of "The Right Use of Will" series by Ceanne DeRohan. Anybody ever read any of those books? If you have, message me......
