Sometime next year I'd like to move to Hawaii and live in a off the grid community or Eco-village. I'd also like complete work/exchange. Though if there are expenses I'd like help with how I could possibly earn money. Preferably mostly Raw Food community. Not sure about the type of Rule so if you can help please mention.
I have experience in organic vegetable gardening and I've worked on a Vegetable Farm for five years. Graduated from the Hippocrates Heath Institute's Life Change Program and am interested in Self Sufficiant Raw Food Lifestyle and permaculture.
There are some farms here. i don't know of any with the work exchange you have in mind. The only one I know of just started and doesn't have much to offer. Pangaia on the big island or Ono Farms on Maui may be better places to be.
It's my current dream to go find a place to stay on the Big Island. I was laid off recently and work is tight right now in Michigan. I'm thinking now may be a good time. I have no idea how to get started even.

Richard - it's the best time.
I took the train to Portland. And then flew Hawaiian from Portland to Kona (cheaper than Hilo).
I know for the east side / coast of the island it's rainy season into February.
I've got close to everything set up. I'm flying out feb 3rd to hilo with eatsleepsurfrunraw and the first farms we're hitting up with is Dharma. As Joel said, east coast is in it's raining season up untill Feb. So by the time we get there everything should be drying up.
I am very excited. Just taking change of clothing (and rain gear), hammock, bike with a trailer, probably a couple of books, with a couple of survival tools (knife, sharpening stone, magnesium stick)
I currently have 8 farms lined up on the east coast. I need to contact way more, and I'm waiting to hear back from a bunch. I plan on traveling all of the islands. I'm going to hitch rides from boaters to the next islands.
I currently don't have a trailer. But I believe I will be getting a BOB also. I'm not sure about license's in hawaii, good question. I guess I will find out soon :)
I will keep updates on here, let everyone know how it is going. I'm stoked!

I don't think our soil has nearly the same trace mineral concentration, so I think unrefined salt can be helpful. The seawater example doesn't fly because, like any substance, what is good in small amounts can be bad in large amounts.

Hello all
So I sort of have a bad sore throat :(
It's hard for me to admit because I hate being sick, but I'm focusing on having as much compassion for my body as I can during this time.
And I'd love to put the best possible foods into my body to...
