Sarma's Smoothie
juice of 2 limes
1/4 pineapple

1 whole cucumber

My green smoothes have gotten pretty complex since these are my main meals during the day.
Kale, Collard, Romaine, Spinach, Cucumber, Blueberries, Mango, Gogi berries, Maca, Cacao, Flaxseed, Coconut water, Vitamineral Greens, Nutritional Yeast. Hemp Seed.

Another easy one is just mixing Mango, Spinach and Water or Coconut Water. Maybe adding a banana if I want to sweeter. That's my quick and fast one when I'm in a hurry.

I just made an awesome smoothie. I had put a couple of pears in the freezer and noticed them today. So I added a couple scoops of cacao and David Wolfs Raw Power, ice, water, 1 chopped frozen pear, a few cashews, macadamia nuts, 1 TBs agave, and vanilla stevia- It made about 32 oz.

Frozen pears are something to try! High in fiber too. I blended it seeds and all..

mmm..I love fruit smoothies. I have a pear in my morning smoothie everyday. Adding in some cashews is a great idea. I am going to start making my own hempmilk next week. That is the only thing I have that isn't raw. Hempmilk that you buy is cooked in the process of making it right? Thanks for the idea, I will definitely try it.

It sounds good. When I attempted a green smoothie the consistency was thick and the spinach was kind of stringy. Definitely different than a fruit smoothie. Is that normal or did I miss the mark?

Hi Lindsay! I have a blend tec so my greens aren't stringy. You could pre-chop them into a little smaller pieces and the ice you put in helps blast em to bits!

The negatives with store bought hemp milk is that they add a lot of sugar or rice syrup- way more than you would normally and I think they heat it up to seal the container which is like pasturization.

Making your smoothie kind of an emulsion can make the texture creamer. You can do this by adding a little almond, hazelnut or coconut oil as the blender is running. Also you could add something like agar agar as a thickener.

Pre-chopping is a good idea and putting ice. I am definitely going to start making my own hempmilk. I do not want unnecessary rice syrup in my body.

I was just reading about 80-10-10 and now I'm worried I've been eating too much fat. I was really only eating seeds as a protein source, which I'm not worried about but my parents who of course are meat eater seem to think I lack going raw. I think when I start making my own hempmilk that will be enough protein combined with that from my vegetable intake and all the green smoothies I'm going to make:)

One more question what are your thoughts on dates and figs? Do you eat them?

Reply to This

they're my stress/comfort foods ;) basically, when i'm at my best, nutritionally speaking, i don't eat dried figs or dates. but when i stress eat, or don't have time to do anything other than grab a handful of dates, they're my best friends. i'm actually trying to get out of the habit of eating them. they feel like junk food...

I am feel the same way. I actually feel bad eating them because I also associate them as junk food. It's funny we think dates and figs are junk food and then there's my brother eating dunk and donuts..haha. Do you pretty much stick to fruit and vegetables then? I love smoothies I would be perfectly content living off smoothies.

did you use baby spinach or just regular spinach? i have a pretty low quality blender, so whenever i use mature spinach, or something like chard, i get little stringies too

oh! yeah I always use baby!!!
